    The CELTS by Enya

Antiquarian interest from the 17th century led to the term Celt being extended, and rising nationalism brought Celtic revivals from the 19th century in areas where the use of Celtic languages had continued. Today, "Celtic" is often used to describe the languages and respective cultures of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man and Brittany (see the Modern Celts article), but corresponds more accurately to the Celtic language family - of which six languages are spoken today (Manx and Cornish being recent revivals): Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx (Goidelic languages) and Welsh, Breton and Cornish (Brythonic languages). Only in the last two decades of the twentieth century did multidisciplinary studies come to bear upon the history of the Celts. Disciplines such as ancient history, palaeolinguistics, archaeology, history of art, anthropology, population genetics, history of religion, ethnology, mythology and folklore studies must all be taken into consideration and the

One of the Best Dance tunes, IMO.

The most previous gift that the Irish brought to America was our music. The best thing that you gave us back was our own music, refined and distilled and reinvigorated. The proof of this distillation was RIVERDANCE, which extracted every drop of Celtic blood on the planet, even the Chinese. Along the way there were Irish music bands from the UK like the Pogues and Dexy's Midnight Runners, proving that Irish music is in the genes no matter where you are born. 20 years on and the Pogues are #1 for Christmas with "Fairytale of New York". Personally, I could not play even a tin whistle but I was compensated and blessed with a heart and feet able to recognize good dance music from the walze to rock to Irish.

    blueridge
    by blueridge  5-21-2008
Amazing voice with harp as instrument. Her voice sounds very Irish or Celtic, which is the kind of folk genre she specializes in, including the Old South. New CD with many awards. Sample clip link.

54 Tips For Playing And Learning The Ocarina And Other Small Musical Instruments
    ocarinaman
    by ocarinaman  9-4-2007
54 tips on learning and playing the ocarina for people at all levels: A) all players, B) Teaching children music, and C) advanced players. Some tips are very helpful. Some are not. Many are encouraging. Some are a riot. Tips on the ear protectors and watching TV are a crack up. I would have never thought of those. Good videos. Lots of material for anyone who loves or is interested in the ocarina. Learning to do anything well takes motivation and diligence. This is certainly true of learning/playing musical instruments. My background is in piano. The ocarina is much newer to me. Wasn't familiar with many of the differences between wind instruments, folk flutes, and transposing instruments (non-C instruments). Now I have a better understanding.
