    Evolution of the Olympic Torch
    Aribeth
    by Aribeth  4-13-2008    5
The 2008 Beijing Olympic torch can reportedly withstand winds of up to 40 miles an hour (65 kilometers an hour), partly due to the flat top of its Chinese-scroll-based design, according to engineer Richard Kelso. The exterior of the torch is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy and is decorated with 56 swirling clouds, one for each of China's ethnic groups.<<

Music and art mixed in the stone age
    pokkets
    by pokkets  7-3-2008    1
The sound of a cave's echo when singing would have sounded good, and percussion instruments are good to help a few singers sing to the same beat. Art is another form of communication, They would have sang about things that they identified with, but theres something about people that makes them want to keep a record, to show others what has been going on. Stories can change, but art can be permanent. A way to show the children and descendants how they lived, and the cave paintings could showing how, and what to hunt.

You know, it's a surreal sign of our times that the procession of the Olympic torch becomes a quasi-military exercise, where the flame passes through hordes of protesters only by police force of arms, with tear gas and hand-to-hand combat.

Except for the fact that the house was afire, this could be funny. It appears that the parents had there own problems which may have contributed to the children's. The 3-year old was a quick learner of some bad behavior. I don't envy people who have children and then lack the resolve and self-discipline to train and teach them. My advice has always been, set the boundaries and rules when they're toddlers, cause you can't start training them as teens. If they're out of control at 3, imagine what they will be at 13!
