Child Care Perth Gone Wrong
childsafetyperth
by childsafetyperth  9-5-2010
After Family Day Care, we had to place our son in a child care service which he absolutely detested. He didn't like the other rough kids nor the non-personalised care. It was with a heavy heart and not-very-rarefied perspective that we kept him in this child care service in Perth. It's a decision I regret and, if we had that time again, I might recant the decision to persist down that path. I think what blinded us was this overwhelming rhetoric that child care is great for independence and socialisation. I think this is true to an extent, but certainly the generalisation came to an abrupt halt with my son who was not able to fit into the gorup at large.

Traditional Taekwondo Techniques

Welcome to Colin's Traditional Taekwondo Technique Workshop Blog. This blog was started in April 2007 as a traditional taekwondo resource available to all hard style martial artists. My aim was to document just one or two techniques as they are practiced within my weekly traditional taekwondo classes held in Perth, Western Australia. Many of the posts are written after or soon after each class, and were great opportunities to highlight issues that I may not have covered that thoroughly in class.

Family Day Care
childsafetyperth
by childsafetyperth  8-30-2010
Family Day Care is a personal story of how we enrolled my son into a Family Day Care provider here in Perth at age 18mo to ready him for full time school. Family Day Care is a child care service coordinated by Family Day Care WA. Carers provide care for up to four children in their own homes and bring a nurturing home-based approach to minding your children. We thought very highly of the child carer we chose and she was very good for my son.

Child Care

Child care is a post on the exorbitant prices of child care services in Australia. Working parents can't afford to earn a dual income whilst paying these child care services. The government sponsored child care rebates are insufficient for most people needing long term child care services.

A House Divided
childsafetyperth
by childsafetyperth  6-29-2010
This post talks about a child's need to be able to make independent decisions and be allowed to know that they do not need to conform to their parents preferences or decision making approach. It is important for children to know that they are capable of making up their own mind and to know that they can have their own likes and dislikes. This creates independence and can unfetter the child from preconceived ideas.
