POPSObama Hype? I have no reason to challenge the grass roots support that Obama claims. Still, this would seem to suggest that there is a certain amount of hype in the "record" pace. I also see a big loophole here in all the campaign finance reform alarmism of recent years. Could I buy 10,000 Brownback for president t-shirts after already maximizing my legal donations for the cycle? Seems to demonstrate the silliness of such laws.

POPSDaily Kos Bans Sheehan This is classic. Does anyone believe the reaction would have been different if Ms. Sheehan had opted for a primary challenge instead? And folks thought that the tendency to eat one's own was a uniquely Republican failing.

POPSThe Democrat's Karl Rove I stumbled upon this blog today. The writing is quite sharp. I have to agree with one of their kudos: "Our Karl Rove is the blog you should be glad that Democratic strategists don't seem to listen to." - Comment on the conservative Galley Slaves blog That does beg the question, however. Why don't they?

POPSParties Plan Green Conventions Here's an idea: If you guys are serious, why don't you scrap the conventions? "Nominating" conventions ceased some time ago and the current rush for states to have February primaries only highlights the extent to which these gatherings have been reduced to symbolic showpieces. Are they really needed?

POPSDemocrats Follow Bush's Lead I don't intend my comments as an endorsement of President Bush or much of his agenda. That said, I find it interesting that over the past six years, many Democrats will echo the thoughts of GW after having vilified him for espousing such views months or years earlier. Remember their outrage when Bush and members of his administration spoke of 'Old Europe'? I guess it is only an example of imperialist unilateralism when spoken by evil Republicans.

POPSEarmarks "The lesson is that nearly nothing has changed with the new Democratic Congress. Appropriators continue to look downward upon the taxpayer as if he were a being of lesser intelligence."

POPSWorst Analogy Ever? I don't care which side of the debate you're on. Read the citation and you can only assume Mr. Olbermann is arguing against withdrawal until the last two sentences. It does not fit in with his rant in any way. Talk about reinforcing the stereotype of empty talking heads..

POPSMurder In Black and White Although there are further objections to HR 1582, I would be more inclined to give it serious consideration if such an article were not representative of the current PC climate.

POPSShort Cuts 07-18 Jay Leno: Today thousands of immigrant students cut class to protest how tough our immigration polices are. If our immigration polices are so tough, how come we have thousands of immigrant students?.....Senate Majority Harry Reid says his fellow Democrats in Congress will pass a bill to start pulling our troops out of Iraq on October 1st. He said October 1st is the day, but says he won’t say what time of day because he doesn’t want to tip off al-Qa’ida. ...Eight Democratic presidential candidates squared off in the first presidential debate. Did anybody watch it? Nobody watched it. We need to make it like ‘American Idol.’ Each week we vote another one off. ... They were all talking about the environment. Of all the candidates in the debate, not one of them took a commercial flight or even shared a jet to help cut down on fuel and emissions. They each took their own separate jet plane to get there. They said this way the breeze would cool the earth. I’m not buying it.

POPSSign the Petition - We Win, They Lose I know, too late to impact this past week's votes, but don't think the Defeatocrats will stop here. Sign the petition to give them pause as they scheme further attacks on the war in Iraq.
