About me
What's to say?(mostly this is random)
I'm artistic and creative. I love to write and draw (in fact if I'm not doing a serious drawing I'm usually doodling on something, I find that it helps me think).
Some people think I'm bookish, I agree.
Often enough I'm entirely contradictory, in short I'm a Gemini (but I'll get along with you no matter what sign you are; case in point, my parents are virgo's)
Speaking of short I am 5'2 (feet, inches).
As for beliefs, I believe in god, both female and male. whether S/He/it is both..well who's to tell? Mostly I'm spiritual rather than religious, that is while I believe in a higher power I don't believe in religion. I won't ever have an issue with you because you believe in something else. The people I do take issue with are people who never listen to anyone else, or are very anti-anything that's not them. Mostly these people I try to just leave be on the web because honestly if we get into fight were fueling them to more hateful.
I listen, I try to be open minded, but I'm dreadfully shy.
I've rarely gone out of the Renton/Seattle/Lynnwood, Washington, USA area.
I would, one of these days, love to travel the world, but have no clue how to do so as of now. Every time I'm next to anyone who speaks a different language, I love to listen to them, it sounds like songs to me.
also, my devart is mostly a record of my progress, although most of my good stuff never really makes it there.
Why I use Clipmarks
I use clipmarks because I love to learn- about people, places, issues- generally stuff normally outside my range. Also because there are some pretty awesome people here. I may not have talked to them but I still think they're awesome.
Where to find me on the web

The Purple People of Phoenicia
alanocu
by alanocu  5-23-2008    12
"The fast, non-fading dye was an item of luxury trade. It is believed that the intensity of the purple hue improved, rather than faded, as the dyed cloth aged." "Archaeological data from Tyre indicate that the snails were collected in large vats and left to decompose. This produced a hideous stench that was actually mentioned by ancient authors. Not much is known about the subsequent steps, and the actual ancient method for mass-producing the two murex dyes has not yet been successfully reconstructed; this special "blackish clotted blood" colour, which was prized above all others, is believed to be achieved by double-dipping the cloth, once in the indigo dye of H. trunculus and once in the purple-red dye of M. brandaris." The Phoenician dolls are unrelated to Tyrian purple, I thought it was an interesting addition to the clip.
