POPSMcCain, Graham: Dead Wrong About Obama Approach On Iran McCain and Graham seem to desire the cowboy diplomacy of the George W. Bush years, asserting that Obama is being too cautious on Iran. However, a return to the diplomatic belligerence of the previous administration would be a disaster. It would play directly into the hands of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei whose harsh response to the persistent protests is presently serving to loosen his grip on Iran's political reigns

POPSJuan Cole's "The Coming McCain Military Draft" McCain will need to institute a draft for young American men (and, given the times, maybe for women as well). McCain, just like the recent Bush Administration's hawkish rhetoric has been proven by the Russian/Georgian conflict to be nothing more than a bluff. Sure, there was a lot of tough talk and fist shaking at the Russians but no real actions were taken against them either by the Bush Administration. I wonder if those young McCain supporters realize what they are asking for? I doubt it. Though many of us already were seeing the writing on the wall, after many started serving in these theaters on second tours, than third, than forth, than for some fifth......................, the Military nor Country can sustain these misadventures let alone protect from the Blowback which will be from the Hatreds we've created!

POPSJohn Murtha Murtha was a Marine with the 34th Special Infantry Company (4.00 / 4) in Vietnam 1966-67. He received the Bronze Star with Valor, 2 Purple Hearts, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.

POPSIf McCain were best person to lead country now We've Had Two Victories in Iraq (0.00 / 0) "Mission Accomplished" Apparently not enough to bring the troops home! "The Surge Worked" And still not enough to bring the troops home, but instead have more serving in theater than before 'the surge'! What's the next catch phrase??

POPSMcCain Lies Again, Repeats False Claim He ‘Received The Highest Honor And Awards’ From Every Vets Gr As ThinkProgress has repeatedly documented, McCain is either willfully lying or he is delusional about his record — and the meaning of “highest awards.” In fact, McCain has recently stood on the opposite side of all three of the groups he mentioned: – Disabled American Veterans (DAV): In a list of 36 “key votes,” shows McCain “Voted Against Us” 16 times. (Obama “Voted With Us” 17 times, and against only once.) – Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW): Endorsed Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-VA) GI Bill that McCain vigorously opposed; called McCain’s alternative GI Bill “very partisan” and said they “didn’t have much input” in its crafting. – American Legion: Endorsed Webb’s GI Bill and criticized McCain’s concern about how it would affect retention, saying the bill “would encourage young men and women to join the military.”

POPSPowell Stands Against Smears Colin Powell, though, might be more on point with his observation than he knew. One of things you quickly learn when you're sent to Iraq or Afghanistan is that the overwhelming majority of Muslims in those nations are peace loving people, who just want to be able to raise their families in a decent environment. Essentially, their overall hopes and dreams are not much different than ours. Most of them actually have fond views of America and the west, and are constantly curious about American culture. To the extent there are any anti-American sentiments in Iraq, it's that Iraqis want this war to end, and want to get back to a stable life. But, it's not right to say that most Muslims are "anti-America.

POPSA Fallen American Soldier continued; his father, Feroze Khan, told the Gannett News Service in a story printed shortly after his death. "He looked at it that he's American and he has a job to do." Powell framed the entire "Obama is a Muslim" debate in striking terms with his reference to this fallen American soldier. "Is there something wrong with being Muslim in America? No, that's not America," he said. "He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he could go serve his country, and he gave his life," Mr. Powell said. "Now, we have got to stop polarizing ourselves in this way." The highly charged rhetoric used by McCain and Palin to tie Obama to terrorism and Islam is once again an affront to all Muslim Americans. We saw this type of fear and backlash just after 9/11. We see it also in the McCarthy-like invocations of Michele Bachmann. I challenge Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin to tell this grieving mother that her son is anti-American because of his faith.

POPSJohn McCain Forgets about Afghanistan . . . Again More of the same is happening yet McCain pays no mind (0.00 / 0) Defections hit Afghan forces After fighting the Taliban for the past seven years, many working for the Afghan security forces are now switching sides. Sulieman Ameri and his 16 men were until a month ago serving the Afghan government as police patrolling the border with Iran. Now they answer to the Taliban and their goal is to drive all foreign troops out of Afghanistan.

POPSNew CBS/NYT Polls Asks about Iraq More comments from troops; What I can't believe (0.00 / 0) is that ONLY 53 percent now realize that Iraq has nothing to do with the "GWOT." That's pretty depressing actually. After everything we know now, you would expect that percentage to be closer to 80, at least--well, I would...

POPSMaliki Blames Bremer; and the Larger Story continued; "The Iraqi administration and all government offices are suffering the consequences of Paul Bremer's mistakes," he said. Following the 2003 war on Iraq, Bremer served as the head of the Coalition Provisional Authority and exercised power over the civil administration. He is widely criticized over the insurgency in Iraq that has partly resulted from his reportedly unilateral decision to formally dissolve the Iraqi army in May 2003. The comments by al-Maliki came after Time magazine reported that Bremer had embezzled $9 billion of the oil-rich country's reconstruction budget.

POPSMcCain: Palin is More Experienced then I! Continued from article............ Frankly, Jesus and I find this a rather precarious position to take. After all, John McCain has never been a mayor or a Governor of anywhere. So the official McCain campaign position must be this: Sarah Palin is more qualified to be either Vice President or President than John McCain! And to put the campaign’s opinion of its ticket in further perspective: According to one of the campaign’s highest profile voices, Carly Fiorina, even Palin isn’t qualified to run a business. Heaven help us!

POPSMcCain-Palin: Dangerous and Extreme I don't think these two are pro life if they believe in eternal war fighting for God. So I believe they are pro baby making to supply more people to fight their endless wars.

POPSDoes Your Service Matter? There are 4155 families that lost a loved one in Iraq, 584 that have lost a loved one in Afghanistan. There are tens of thousands of injured soldiers like myself, who not only deal with their injuries but have families that deal with the injuries too. Does Meghan McCain think that those 4,739 families that are grieving the loss of their loved ones don't know about war. Does she think that the tens of thousands of us wounded soldiers don't know about war. Yes, she does. This is not a simple mistake or a gaffe, this is a freudian slip and it gives us an insight into how Sen. McCain feels about the service of those of are not him. Sen. McCain has shown us by his voting record that we don't matter. Sen. McCain was publicly against the bi-patisan Webb/Hagel GI Bill. He tried to introduce his own watered down version because the Webb/Hagel bill was "too generous". If you did 3 tours in Iraq and want to get out and go to school...Sen. McCain thinks you don't matter.

POPS 6th September 2008 Politics First! Sarah’s biggest problem (caveat: that we know of) is the so-called Troopergate scandal. Whereas it would certainly be in our country’s best interest to know if Palin abused her power before we vote, John McCain apparently has plenty of private exceptions to his public proclamation: “Country First!” Effortlessly placing campaign above country, he has deployed a militia of lawyer insurgents to storm Juneau to try to undermine the Alaska legislature’s effort to find out if Palin broke the law. Clearly, this is one of the other exceptions we keep seeing: to how John will bring a change from the Bush years.

POPS The Selfless Philanderer And then she spoils it all by wearing that hideous green dress! I’m sure you’ve seen the hilariously disturbing You Tube video of McCain checking out Palin’s ass, all the while fiddling with his wedding ring. In light of the recent allegations of Palin’s own infidelity, Cindy just better watch her scary self. When you marry a philanderer you get, well a philanderer. Good luck with that, honey!
