Bill O'Reilly manages to Fail to learn a lesson about Hypocrisy
darkeforce
by darkeforce  12-10-2011
When Bill O'Reilly was "accosted" by an independent reporter, out to get a statement from him on camera, he fought the polite and considerate man off with an umbrella, and then proceeded to assassinate that young man's character on his "news" program. O'Reilly waxed a "harmed innocent" stance on the situation, even though the assault camera teams he's sicced on people who were on vacation and with their children were much less polite than that young man was. Bill O'Reilly fails at learning from his own past; like a typical Republican, and gets our "Can dish it out, but can't take it" award.

Now that Newt has put forward the idea of putting poor kids to work as janitors in their schools, drooling brain-cramps like Joe Klein have stated that this blatant violation of Child Labour Laws is not only a good idea, but it should go further than that. I present to you Step Fifty-Eight in the process of the Rich Plutocrats turning everyone else in America into their own personal Serf class.

darkeforce
by darkeforce  12-9-2011
A truly shocking site called "Mediashift" is advocating that Business be given an strong influence in Editorial content; essentially saying that the news media should "stroke the egos" of businesses, and think first and foremost of what will serve businesses the most in their "critical" news articles. What kind of world are we living in when the media is in bed with the Plutocrats, instead of exposing the injustices perpetrated by the Plutocrats? If you're getting your news from any American news outlet, you are not getting the real news; you are getting business-friendly, consumer-depredating spin. Time to be paying attention only to International news sources like BBC, UPI and Al Jazeera (even Reuters seems to be succumbing to corporate bias these days).

Right-Wing Tax Spin goes Beyond the Pale
darkeforce
by darkeforce  12-9-2011
With Republicans stealing copy from Democrats and repeating their words in situations where it makes no sense to say so, the Republicans find themselves wedgied by their maniacal drive to oppose all things Democrat-introduced, and have started crying out against a tax cut proposed by the White House — a tax cut that would actually be paid for (unlike the devastating Bush tax cuts). They've tried applying arguments Democrats have used against Republican-originating tax cut plans, and as a result, managed to make themselves look completely ridiculous. Are we ready to admit that there is no place for the Republican Party in 21st Century America now?

Fox News Goes to the Middle (and other Fantasies)

There's too much said in this article to clip everything relevant, so please read it at the source http://www.fair.org/blog/2011/12/06/fox-news-goes-to-the-middle-and-other-fantasies/ Apparently, allowing a New York Times (an increasingly right-wing rag) reporter into its recent Republican debate counts as " moving toward a centrist position". With Fox Lapdogs setting the bar for "impartiality" this low, it's little wonder that FoxNews has been able to hold onto its fictional "Fair and Balanced" tagline — the rest of the media is complicit by giving that source of yellow opinion journalism any credibility. Other news outlets need to expose FoxNews as the sham it is, and people need to stop granting access to their events for FoxNews "reporters" (read as "spin artists").

Newt Grigrich; Smartest Republican. And that is just so sad!

by darkeforce  12-2-2011    5
The media likes to claim that current-15-minutes-of-famer, Newt Gingrich is "the smartest man in the room" when compared to the other Republican Clown College Candidates. The fact that he makes such absurd mistakes, even in his own self-professed specialty of History shows us that accepting that he is the smartest of those losers; he's still no more intelligent, nor informed than a typical 10 year old. These are the people that Republicans want to run the nation with the biggest Murder Machine (Military) in the world? At the very least, the right choice for president must be smarter than the typical voter, because otherwise, how do you expect him to deal with the very complex job of running America and dominating the world? If you're going to say an intellectually-retarded person, like Perry or Bachmann should be president, then that's the same as saying you want America to be represented by idiots.

America is afraid to take responsibility for killing its allies
darkeforce
by darkeforce  12-2-2011
This all started early in the Afghanistan war, when getting the Americans to admit that they had mistakenly bombed a group of Canadian Soldiers; violating standing orders by doing so. Those two navy pilots went on to get nothing but a slap on the wrist (an official reprimand and the loss of 1 month's pay). The families of those dead Canadian soldiers have still not seen justice done. Now, the US won't even commit themselves to say who is killing Pakistani troops; or even use their names when addressing the media. The American War Machine is out of control, and it needs to be shut down, HARD and with EXTREME PREJUDICE!

American Media Spins US's Dangerous Stance on Cluster Bombs
darkeforce

The New York Times committed a hatchet job on the news of the failure of an international treaty to ban the use of Cluster Bombs due to the long-lasting, devastating effect they have on civilians —especially children, who often curiously pick up the bomblets in fields and are killed. What the US Media doesn't tell you is revealed by respected international media — American push to regulate cluster bombs, not ban them outright. In other words, they still wanted to be able to use Cluster Bombs. 50 nations stood against America, and once again proved that America is the real Bad Guy in the world today.

This is what a decade of Republican Terrorism has done to Americans; they're scared of things that no sensible person would be afraid of. Americans are cowards now, all because Republicans kept up the constant drumbeat of "Be Afraid!" at them all throughout Bush's illegal reign. Americans need to decide today; are they going to keep being pathetic little cowards and live afraid of everything around them, or are they going to embrace the courage that saw them liberate themselves from England and spread out across the land to form a great nation? Are you going to be a Republican Coward, or a Democratic Hero?

Abuses have been reported; the very least of which include women prisoners being held by male jailers, and children being detained aside adults. Given, Libya has a long road yet to go to rebuild their nation, but they're moving in the wrong direction if they repeat the actions of the evil dictator they deposed.

I think this pretty much proves the New York Times' yellow journalism as the New York Police tipped them off about their dastardly middle-of-the-night eviction of #Occupy Wall Street (a violation of their First Amendment rights) so they could get exclusive coverage. It says something definitive about the biased nature of your reporting if the authorities invited you to cover something that they're arresting other journalists over to prevent them from covering it. The New York Times has conclusively been placed in the same category as FoxNews in being a source of nothing but Spin and Yellow Journalism.

The Amazing GOP's "Tax Hike" Tax Cut
darkeforce

In claiming that the recent bill rejected by the Democrats included an increase in tax revenue, the GOP have been bald-faced liars, because when one fully examines the bill, one sees that the bill would extend the Bush Tax Cuts permanently, costing America $4 Trillion over the next decade; utterly obliterating the the $300 Billion (actually, $3 Billion) the proposed "closing of loopholes" would have saved. The Republicans are governing with lies, trickery and base deception, constantly trying to push the agenda of prosperity for the rich, at the expense of the middle class in everything they do. This issue needs to be put off until after the 2012 elections, so that once the "Teabagger" Traitors are swept out of office, and the Democrats again have control of 2 of the 3 branches of government, they can show some balls and actually do right by the American people.

Somehow, by suppressing the Free Speech of the #OWS protesters by evicting them, Michael Bloomberg has been declared a Champion of the First Amendment . What kind of crazy world are Americans living in, where black is white, up is down and wrong is right? The #Occupy Toronto movement recently got a stay of eviction due to the fact that doing so would violate their rights to Free Expression (the eviction effectively bans the protest, and as such, is Unconstitutional). The #Occupy movements in America need to seize this example and prove that being evicted from public places violates their right to Free Speech because it functionally bans their protest.

The Washington Post put forward an audaciously spun story about Vyacheslav Danilenko, whom WaPo's Joby Warrick is accusing of being a Soviet Weapons Scientist. Danilenko is actually — has always been — a scientist who specializes in using explosions to create synthetic industrial diamonds, for use in oil drilling. All this ridiculous noise about Iran making bombs because they've created technology for accurately measuring the power and shape of explosions has perfectly legitimate, non-nuclear applications. Someone needs to hold the Commercial Conservative Media responsible for the Yellow Journalism they're passing off as news. It's no wonder so many Americans are misinformed about their nation, and the world; they're bombarded with lies from all sides. Shades of Brazil...

The Federal Conservative party unveils a "voluntary pension system" which is nothing more than RRSP's that make more money for the banks than they do for the clients. Like their heroes, the American Republicans, the Canadian Tories are catering to the rich, at the expense of the Middle Class. RRSPs are little used because most people can't afford to contribute. Giving them something else they can't afford to contribute to does nothing to help Canadians secure a pension. The Canadian Pension Plan needs to be expanded and funded more; that's the best way to secure the future for Canadians. Having richer banks doesn't help anyone but the 1%.

Read the entire article at site. The conviction of the leader of this "kill team" is just a symptom of the indifference that the US Military feels toward the people of the countries it invades. These soldiers openly referred to the people they were supposed to protect from the Taliban as "savages", and carried out their murders in broad daylight, rather than secretly by night as some have suggested. This is what the American Military teaches its members to do to human beings. Is there any better reason to dismantle such an inhuman, callous and base organization?

EEG shows awareness in some vegetative patients

This could be the first of many steps toward opening up the world to people "trapped inside their own bodies". They suggest the only real practical and ethical use at the moment is to determine if the patient is in pain or not, although, I think they need to test a larger sample of subjects before this can be determined conclusively. It requires EEG machines to be able to give data in real time; something that still needs to be developed, but it's a much cheaper and more portable solution than the previous work using fMRI scanners. An EEG can be taken to the patient's bedside anywhere there's an electrical outlet.

Rachael is being charitable and calling it Performance Art, but the truth is that Cain is just playing around, seeing how much money and how much popularity he can suck out of the gullible conservatives.  Once again, apologists are attacking a stance that no one is taking; that being: Make the Poor rich and the Rich poor. No one other than ridiculous radicals are saying that. All the people who are decrying fiscal inequality are saying is that they've had enough of there being Rich, Middle Class and Poor; they want everyone to be Middle Class (usually as per approx 1982 "Middle Class", since the current Middle Class has been hopelessly eroded). Why does there need to be anyone rich? Why can't everyone just be "prosperous"? Every dollar that a rich person has in excess of even exaggerated needs and desires is one less dollar a poor person has toward making ends meet. The whole modern concept of Capitalism creates Poverty by its very existence. Certainly, there were people who struggled to provide food for their families before there was Capitalism, but there was no Poverty.
