POPSGender And Society I'd like to talk about gender identity in my personal life. As I grew into adolescence and my girlfriends talked about boys, I felt bored, but I wanted to date to be like the others. An other than heterosexual identity never occurred to me. So I got married and it was a good marriage; I had two beautiful daughters and I genuinely liked men. What kept me from being aware of my sexual orientation before things became so complicated? I think it is because heterosexuality is the only normative relationship in our society, and I was led to believe I was heterosexual when I wasn't. Girls are often discouraged from speaking their own truths so often that they tend to deny or ignore them or set them aside. I often felt like I was playing a role as a feminine creature while putting on lipstick and talking about boys to my friends. I thought this is what a woman is supposed to do. Sometimes I feel anger at society for being herded in that direction.

POPSI Took The First Step Life is way too short for those who thrive on negativity or trolls here on CM. I've had my fill of those who make snide personal remarks, and I intend to not try to reason with those whose minds are already full of hate and bitterness. They have their followers. What I'm interested in doing is putting out the message to people who aren't so rigid and who are interested in actually learning. That is what I believe CM is all about. :)

POPSFarewell To Harms "The elites hate her." The elites made her. It was the elites of the party, the McCain campaign and the conservative media that picked her and pushed her. She might as well have been a bonbon. "The media did her in." Her lack of any appropriate modesty did her in. The era we face, that is soon upon us, will require a great deal from our leaders. They had better be sturdy. They will have to be gifted. There will be many who cannot, and should not, make the cut. Now is the time to look for those who can. And so the Republican Party should get serious, as serious as the age, because that is what a grown-up, responsible party—a party that deserves to lead—would do."
