    dfiskey
    by dfiskey  6-25-2008
these little bands only shot at true exposure is by performing in front of live audiences-- if they don't have that opportunity music is in bigger trouble that we thought...

The end of Jam Band String Cheese Incident
    dfiskey
    by dfiskey  11-7-2006
I was into this band for a minute or 2 when i was in college. I have some friends that really enjoyed following them-- bummer these jam bands always seem to break up. While i never was a big 'jam band' concert goer, i've been to a handful of shows, and i always thought it was a really great music alternative.

tough time for music: TOWER RECORDS - OUT OF BUSINESS
    dfiskey
    by dfiskey  10-15-2006    5
Tower Records and CBGB - bad news, same weekend...it's like we're taking all the heart and soul out of a heart and soul business (if there really is such a thing) Ibought my first CD at Tower Records-- it was Billy Joel- the double disc greatest hits-- i was probably 9-10-- in '85-'86- don't really remember which one-- but for me, Tower Records had the 'kid in the candy store' effect.

amazing how the beatles and dylan dominated, and in many way still do, the music scene. It was just a different kind of music. I wnder if any albums from our generation will have the staying power some of these have had. Such classics.

Turning off the lights at CBGB- punk rock's most famous institution closes tonight
    dfiskey
    by dfiskey  10-14-2006    1
it's a sad day for music when CBGB's is not the punk rock venue in NYC anymore. I've seen a ton of shows here- and although it's pretty much a dump..what great rock venue isn't??? I can't imagine the owner will be able to create the same vibe and magic when she reopens in Vegas....even if she is taking the famous urinals.

    by dfiskey  3-9-2006
Maybe I'm a little 'cold' for saying this, but this creeps me out...i hated when they did it with Nat King Cole, and I'll hate it again now.. I know it sucks when people die.. but i hate the idea of technology bringing them 'back' for entertainment purposes...this is a marketing/promotion idea.. I don't care if his family is behind it..it rubs me the wrong way
