POPSMedia Follows Drudge Lead Just as in the "inventing the internet" tale, once again the main stream media thought nothing of a story until after rightwing activists "spun" the tale into an issue.

POPSLibby Urban Myths Watch for these urban myths to be touted by the media in the aftermath of the Libby conviction.

POPSLibby's Forgotten Job Title Often forgotten is that Libby was "Special Assistant to the President." Has the media dropped that title in an effort to distance Libby from Bush?

POPSBush Had Trouble Landing - Had to Skip Evidence suggests Bush's performance as a pilot in the guard was on the slide. Daddy called friends in Alabama and said, "he's killing us in Houston." They had to get him out of town. He couldn't pass his flight physical; he was booted down to a trainer and simulator; and he was obviously having a drinking problem.

POPSBush Worsens Terror Situation It seems everything Bush touches turns to shit. The joke in Midland, TX when Bush was in the oil "bidness," was that George W. Bush couldn't find a friggin quart of oil in a 7/11."

POPSSmearing of Gore Continues Unabated When stories about Gore's huge electric bill hit the news, I did like any good reporter would do, and asked to see the records. I called the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, and ask them to fax copies of the Nashville Electric Service records on Gore's energy usage. "Actually, we don't have those records," the person answering the phone told me, "But if you call NES, they'll give them to you over the phone. All you have to do is tell them the address." I called Nashville Electric Service, and they told me they could not release any such information. No wonder the TN Center for Policy Research didn't have copies of the records to fax me. I wonder why no other reporter asked the basic question I did - "Let's see the records."

POPSBush Talks Tough Bush's tough talk about what he's going to do to bin Laden - back before Bush gave up his concern over bin Laden.

POPSCheney Is the Man behind the Crime Fitzgerald lowers the boom on Cheney - as the man behind the scene - the man he believes was behind the crime. "There is a cloud over the vice president. He wrote on those columns. He had those meetings. He sent Libby off to the meeting with Judith Miller where Plame was discussed. That cloud remains because the defendant obstructed justice. That cloud is there. That cloud is something that we just can't pretend isn't there."

POPSWhy Single Out Sen. Clinton? This Washington Post editorial singles out Senator Clinton in its headline subtitle even though Senator McCain's campaign is doing the same exact thing the Post attacks Clinton for doing. Notice, in one paragraph, they say a Clinton campaign spokesman "couldn't say what the campaign plans to do about disclosure." Later, the editorial notes that McCain too "hasn't decided what to do." Even though the McCain campaign ALSO could not say what it plans to do about disclosure, the Post singles out Clinton for criticism. In fact, as of the publishing of this editorial, we found there were four major candidates who wouldn't release this information. Why was Senator Clinton the only one mentioned in the headline?

POPSBush Flip-Flops "We have a clear vision on how to win the war on terror and bring peace to the world." vs “I don’t think you can win it." Simply amazing.

POPSBush Reneges on Plame Promise Bush promised to fire anyone involved in the Plame leak. Now we know of several senior Bush Administration officials who leaked her identity. Rove, Libby, and Armitage all three have been fingered for revealing her identity to reporters. Still no action by Bush to live up to his promise.

POPSHillary a Sure Thing Say Veteran Repubs CBC reported this. Veteran republican strategists have resigned themselves to the inevitability of a Hillary Clinton presidency. For some reason, I couldn't clipmark this from the CBS site, but this blog site has the link.
