POPSEverything he touches... Our president that is... I am for the ethical treatment of prisoners: no matter who they are or what they've done. Our morality doesn't depend on the actions of others (no matter how henous). That's part of the very definition of morality. But our "moral" president has likely made it difficult, if not impossible to prosecute some of these people... Some that are likely a real threat. Chock it up to incompetence... once again.

POPSDoing the job... Gays serve in the military now... Its simply hypocritical to now allow them to serve openly. If people are prejudiced, they just have to get over it -- like they did with integrated (black and white) units some 50+ years ago.

POPSThe drum beat of idiocy... Capt Fogg nails it again: patriotism trumps any type of reason in our (right wing) politics... Will anyone actually listen to what the candidates has to say on the issues? Or is it all decided based on imagery...

POPSSo you think christianity is crazy? Give the Quaran and Islam a try... Kafir girl reads and comments on the book so you don't have too! She also adds some family "insights" to keep things moving... Funny stuff (it so many people didn't take this crap seriously)

POPSBoth sides of your mouth... Conservatives are experts at speaking out of both sides of their mouths... The latest case in point: They seem outraged at Gen W. Clark's comments about McCain's experience... but I bet many of these folks were the same people that wore "purple band-aids" at the 2004 Republican convention denoting their "contempt" for 2x purple heart winner John Kerry and his Vietnam war record. I guess you only have to respect the service of conservatives.

POPSChristians & Muslims beleive god wants you to marry only virgins... Or you have to at least believe he USED to require it... cuz there are many passages in the old testament that indicate you should stone your wife if you find out she's not a virgin on her wedding night... I guess god changes his morality based on the age however - since we're not supposed to do this anymore right?

POPSDevolution... The ability of mankind to cling to ancient myths when they can't fully grasp science is astounding...

POPSA distant "ally" As I've said before, when the dust settles, Iran and Iraq will be closer allies than the US and Iraq...

POPSSupport the troops... ...Mr. President... and Mr. McCain... put your money where your braggadocio is... Will it cost? Sure .. .but expenses at in-state "state" schools aren't outrageous. And even if it is expensive -- 36 months active duty should be enough to earn any enlisted man a college degree: it helps them, and helps the country (which is sorely short of educated people...) Helping an entire generation get an education is a good thing: probably one of the best ways the government can spend its money ... and which group could be more deserving?

POPSBaptists on the decline... could it be... ...that people are waking up to the fact that religion is based on superstition and the desire of one group of people to control others? When you can say "god wants you to do this" -- and you believe in god -- it makes it easy.
1
POPSClinton - stay away... No matter if it's justified -- too many people seem to have a virulent dislike of Hillary... it would be best for the country if she didn't get put in the VP slot...
2
POPSState religion... Why is the state authorizing a sectarian license plate? I hope the Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and Atheists all protest this one and take the state to court. Legislatures have more important stuff to do than this...

POPSTED - Ideas worth spreading... If you haven't checked out this site I strongly suggest you do... I can't believe I haven't clipped it before! The site covers everything from culture and entertainment to scientific accomplishments and wonder... It is packed with videos by some of the best scientists, entertainers and thinkers of today.

POPSBigotry alive and well... In case you thought it was on the way out... And guess what? You just need to look to the bible-belt to find the largest percentages of bigots in the country. In 1998 S. Carolina had about 38% of voters still in favor of miscegenation laws. Amazing...
1
POPSPeople in need of education... Seems like a lot of people who comment on an issue I raised don't know what "begging the question" means... They simply assume the desired outcome (e.g. - marriage is a religious institution and given to a man and a woman) and say "I defined my term -- you are wrong"... How silly can you get...

POPSI hope so... If even a small percentage of republicans go for Obama -- it'll be a landslide.
1
POPSA dead issue... The statistics have been clearly showing that younger folks (rightly) don't consider gay relationships and issue... It may not happen this year or in the next few, but in a decade or so this issue will completely go away -- just as interracial marriage, the idea of "separate but equal (segregation) and other forms of bigotry did.
2
POPSMajority seems to get it... While I'm sure this is just 'one result' it would seem the tide is turning: people are realizing that private decisions -- like a person's choice of a mate -- should be respected by government.
3
POPSRepublican slime machine... It's in full swing -- you don't see many emails about McCain, but my box is full of emails about Obama and how he doesn't wear a flag label pin... What a joke...

POPSVactican craziness In an ever more idiotic attempt to reconcile religion with science we hear how the Vatican is prepp'ng the flock for the eventual discover of extraterrestrial life forms ... You can't make this stuff up in Hollywood

POPSTwain on the Book of Mormon One of my favorite quotes... I haven't read thru this one yet myself -- for the exact reason Mr. Twain cites. Its even more boring (and ridiculous) than the bible.

POPSThe Pentagon vs America Scott Ritter makes some astute observations regarding the military and its relationship with the citizens - and the constitution - it is sworn to protect.
