POPSThe Pickens Plan Could this man single-handedly lift the United States out its dependence on oil and inspire the type of commitment and innovation needed to make it happen? I know that sounds crazy, but this type of high profile exposure is absolutely invaluable to the birth of a new industry. Like going to the moon in the 60s, it's time to devote whatever resources are needed to enter the alternative energy era.

POPSSolar powered Prius!! Now this is exciting news! This type of innovation is exactly what the world needs to help us lose our dependency on oil. It is also the type of progress that i believe will spur the economy out of its very nasty funk.

POPSBush's attempt to keep us hooked on oil Man, Tom Friedman just nails it. This is exactly what the Bush administration is trying to do and it scares the heck out of me. I strongly suggest that you click the source link to read the entire article.

POPSWhy we need high oil prices I know this sounds crazy, but i honestly believe that high oil prices in the short term (1-5 years) is a very good thing if it forces us to find alternatives. I am definitely concerned that if oil prices drop temporarily, the momentum behind alternatives such as wind and solar will die off - leaving us exactly where we are today - way too dependent on oil and way to harmful to our environment.

POPSFilling up your car with ELECTRICITY!! When we can fill up our cars with electricity instead of gasoline - and generate electricity through wind and solar power - and transmit more electricity over the grid - we will have truly changed global dynamics. The amazing thing is that it may not be more than a few years away! Any additional help we can get from Washington will make a huge difference. I hope to see this be a central issue in the upcoming election.

POPSVideo of Maxine Waters threatening to socialize oil What an insane, stupid comment. I just can't believe she said this...scary!! Thanks to {{willhelm}} for posting the original clip about this here http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/F1762764-9B5B-4F50-9C31-20602A85332C/. wanted to clip the actual video because i honestly couldn't believe it until i saw it.

POPSTesla Motors sells out first 100 cars Innovation and capitalism are amazing forces in dealing with global dynamics. We've got sky high oil prices, instability in the region that oil comes from and a global warming threat that many attribute to our use of fossil fuels. So what do we do? We innovate....this is just the beginning!!

POPSExporting wind I apologize for posting so many clips about wind power lately, but i've been doing a lot of reading about it and keep coming across bits of information that simply amaze me. The idea that Oklahoma's number one export can soon be wind is fascinating. When you think about it, the entire balance of power in the world has largely been shaped by access to oil. Now we can just import/export wind to create power. Amazing how massive the implications of this could be!

POPSU.S. waits for others to save us from oil dependence As long as this remains the case i will remain skeptical that the U.S. government truly wants to end our dependence on oil. That reality basically means that the needs of lobbyists (Big Oil) are considerably more important than the needs of the people. That depresses me a lot!

POPSWhy can't the U.S. be more like Varese? If this town in Italy can be 100% dependent on renewable power, why can't towns/cities in the U.S. do the same? It really makes me angry to live in a country that holds itself out as a world leader, yet we need to look at small towns in Italy to see examples of the Power Revolution. It frightens me that Big Oil stands in the way of the U.S. leading the Revolution.

POPSRepublicans weaken this country's adoption of renewable energy This makes me so mad!! On this issue, those who voted against these measures should be ashamed of themselves. There is absolutely no good reason to be "against" boosting renewable fuels or adoption of wind energy...oh yeah, unless you're being bought by big oil and utilities!!!

POPS"Big Talk, Little Will" - Thomas Friedman (NY Times) August 16, 2006. Friedman asking the right questions again. Here we are in the biggest struggle of our lives and we are funding both sides — the U.S. military with our tax dollars and the radical Islamists and the governments and charities that support them with our gasoline purchases

POPSBlog focussed on cutting oil imports!! Of all the things we could do in this world to fight terrorism, help the environment, create jobs, lower oil prices, boost the economy, open a world of amazing possibilities...devoting our resources to creating alternative sources of energy should be our number one priority. I believe it should be a national (and global) mission that takes on greater focus and passion than when we committed to putting people on the moon. There is no question we can do it. There is no question people want it. There is a major question about why we're not doing it!

POPSStocks tumble...Bush's approval ratings to follow? Bush's approval ratings have been tumbling despite the stock market gains over the past year. I think that if the market begins to tumble Bush could really sprial down at an accelerated pace. Kind of think that people tend to not get too angry until they feel it in their wallets. DISCLAIMER: I am not bashing Bush nor am i hoping this happens. Simply making an observation that seems logical to me.

POPSMore cars, more cars, more cars...higher oil prices This article argues that we should be looking harder for more oil. I say we should forget about oil and develop technologies that create clean, renewable power without oil. If we made this our top priority as a country it would have incredible benefits!

POPSI'll take 2 sugars please......in my car! This is really stunning...today, ethanol accounts for 40% of all automobile fuel in Brazil. Apparently, this isn't available in the U.S. because we're protecting farmers who don't want us importing the sugar that's needed from Brazil.

POPSOil reaches $75 per barrel!!! Here we go.............where will it stop, nobody knows! What i do know is that i embrace this short term pain if it means that the world will get deadly serious about the need for alternative sources of energy.

POPSClipmarks goes green for 48 hours! A new home page and green clips for the next 48 hours. I look forward to seeing what kind of message we can send as a community. I do want to point out that anyone who does not want to use the green backgound color for their clipmarks during the next two days can click the color widget at the top-right of the save clipmark window to change it.

POPSAnother day, another rise in oil prices... It seems that each morning i find myself clipping about another rise in oil prices. I'm starting to have a feeling that we haven't seen anywhere near the peak yet, as people don't seem to even be paying all that much attention this time.
2
POPSOil prices keep rising... not happy to be posting yet another morning clipmark about oil prices rising yet again...this time to new highs. My hope is that this continues to put great focus on alternative, renewable sources of energy that don't come from the middle east.

POPSOil hits $70.00 slowly but surely the price has gotten right back to where it was when everyone was bugging out. what price is it going to take in order for people too bugg this time?
3
POPSStocks slide! Think the fact that everyone is reporting that the U.S. is about to drop nukes on Iran might be causing the strength in commodity prices. That wouldn't push oil prices up or anything. I have 2 words for the Bush adminstration (not true actually, i have a bunch...but here are two of them): ALTERNATIVE ENERGY. spend 1/2 the money that the iraq job is costing on alternative sources of energy and the economy would be rocking, the environment might stand a chance, and we'd actually be doing 10x more to affect the balance of power in the middle east. I really want to run for president...my entire campaign would consist of only 2 words...alternative energy. What is your plan to stimultate the economy: alternative energy What is your plan to fight the war on terror: alternative energy What is your plan to combat global warming: alternative energy

POPSEnergy innovation occurring in China Exciting to see China taking the lead in the evolution of the power industry. Sure would be even more exciting to see the U.S. seriously get in the game. Bush talked about it for a week or so...that's not going to get it done!

POPSAn East vs West showdown brewing over energy This is yet another example of how imperative it is for the U.S. to be pushing forward with an aggressive alternative energy plan that at least rivals its prior committment to putting a man on the moon.
