POPSThe Daffodil Principle A re-clip of one of my favorite, inspirational stories! It always seems to resurface and circulate each spring. At the time I re-clipped this, there were 1442 "views".

POPSThe North American Way of Life: An unsustainable ponzi scheme? “You can get this burst of wealth that we have created from this rapacious behavior,” ... “But it has to collapse, unless adults stand up and say, ‘This is a Ponzi scheme. We have not generated real wealth, and we are destroying a livable climate ...’ Real wealth is something you can pass on in a way that others can enjoy.”

POPSThe Good Tease In seeking to protect our children from bullying and aggression, we risk depriving them of a most remarkable form of social exchange. In teasing, we learn to use our voices, bodies and faces, and to read those of others — the raw materials of emotional intelligence and the moral imagination. We learn the wisdom of laughing at ourselves, and not taking the self too seriously. We learn boundaries between danger and safety, right and wrong, friend and foe, male and female, what is serious and what is not. We transform the many conflicts of social living into entertaining dramas. No kidding. Dacher Keltner is a professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and an editor of the magazine Greater Good. His latest book, “Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life,” from which this essay is adapted, will be published next month by Norton.

POPSFollowing the Alpha Geeks for fun and profit This was extracted from the stream of messy data coming out of the DevLearn 2008 Conference... (wherever it is being held...) I love the term "Alpha-Geek" and think of myself as a Beta-Geek with Alpha-Geek tendencies.

POPSNovember 1/2: All Saints Day / All Souls Day / Day of the Dead A very interesting time in many countries. A biggie in Poland. If you check out the links on this site, you'll see that this is a time of remembering and a time of partying. I can't find the reference, but I remember hearing that there are more drunken driving deaths and arrests during this time of the year than any other in Poland
