POPSRemarkable Photos This temple laid under the jungle, completely undiscovered for centuries. The hallway and mysterious chambers seemed to go on forever.

"How incredible that i get to work on something that is fun, inspiring, challenging and meaningful that provides me the opportunity to learn about all sorts of interesting things from amazing people around the world." Thank you for everything you have done to make this a special place. I have learned a lot from you!

POPSQUIZ: What American Accent Do You Have? If you think you don't have an accent, think again. This short quiz is a way to find out which dialect of American English you speak. Different regional accents become more prevalent in countries at different times throughout the years for various socio-economic and geographical reasons. These accents come to be perceived as "neutral" or "accent-less" by the majority during these times. For a while, the American dialect sometimes called "Standard Midwestern" has dominated but, like accents themselves, this "standard" constantly evolves. Recently, the spoken aspects of American English have trended westward along with the population center of America. Many features distinct to Northeastern accents (think NYC, Boston) are being replaced in popularity with those from Western accents (think LA) across America. This shift tends to be more prominent the younger the speaker is.

POPSEricW gets promoted!!! W did such an incredible job bringing reason to our decision making, that we decided (in a unanimous vote) to promote him to President. Director just didn't give him proper credit for his uncanny ability to bring reason to this place. Thank you W...and congratulations!!!

POPSCandid NYC Subway Turnstile Photos UPDATE: Darn, the site didn't clip as well as I was hoping. But it's still worth seeing. See main site for high-resolution photos . Fascinating installation by NYC photographer, Bill Sullivan, who frames the wonder that is human variety in everyday — yet unexpected — locations. (Love the guy with the BMX wheels in his hands.) (Via kottke .)

POPSDurex to cute Animals. Comic Photos. Beware! Don't try this at home. These manoeuvres may lead to stiffness that can only be relieved by sexual activity. Please do not use as balloons or water bombs. Thanks to Haraya.

POPSNYC man saves stranger's life in subway fall That's the New York I used to know (and love). People act like they don't give a shit, but they look out for one another in a real emergency. This is the train I used to take to work every day; it happened about a dozen blocks uptown from where i used to live.

POPSRevenge of the Trees "This is what you get for producing all that carbon monoxide!" We had a crazy storm in NYC last week. The next morning I was walking to the train in Long Island City and saw this.

POPSSocial Justice Photography I altered this photo slightly from the original - changed it to the sepia hues - because I have my own artiste inside and the color seemed to detract from the "what's really going on here."

POPSRockMe. Online Music Festival
This is Me.dium's Dudeofmusic blog. I had a chance to chat with him, Rose Hill Drive's Jake Sproul and the the CTO of Pandora internet radio, Tom Conrad. I love Pandora and apparently, they love Me.dium. Me.dium's a browser add-on that allows you to see other people that are online the same time you are. It's hard to explain but it is a surreal experience. Within the browser client there is a chat box and a interactive "world" where you can see what sites other users are on and jump around from site to site with them... all while chatting together. RockMe. (http://rockme.dium.com/) is an event that harness Me.dium, allowing users to discover, meet and share their favorite artists. Get the browser add-on, http://me.dium.com/tutorial Interact with who's on your blog with the Me.dium widget: http://rockme.dium.com/ What will the browser applications of the future do?! Teleport me into the computer where I can visit my Second Life home as me, and leave my avatar in the invento

POPSWhat the heck is going on here? I've noticed this word co-conspirator occurring with much more regularity over the past few years. It sounds ridiculous to me. Does it annoy anyone else? Isn't it redundant? Like saying someone is a co-team-member? Doesn't the conspirator part automatically imply the co part. For example: A and B are conspirators. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

POPSI'm a geek too! CNet includes my comments on clipmarks. I'd say "working with" rather than "working at" - a slight misquote ;) I met Eric G a few weeks back and got so excited about Clipmarks that I've been spending thursdays here in the office, brainstorming about how I can help build the clipmarks community and spread the word.

POPSAnti-War protest in NYC What i am most afraid of is that horrible communication and terrible execution by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. have now put us in a position where we can't make the necessary moves we need to against countries like Iran. This just might go down as a classis example of "careful what you wish for, you just might get it." Bush wanted his war with Hussein. He got it. Now we're paying for it...and i suspect we will be for a very long time.

POPSOne Punk Under God or The 'Prize' of Tammy Faye Tammy Faye has become a "gay icon" and is battling lung and colon cancer. Her son, Jay Bakker, recently attended the premiere of "One Punk Under God" a documentary that will air on the Sundance Channel in November. Bakker is also pastoring Revolution an "alternative" church which embraces the gay community and holds services in a bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The same production team that filmed the award winning movie, "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" are producing this television documentary. A Page Six article In today's New York Post (10/22/06) covered this under the headline, "PRAY FOR TAMMY." Tammy was a part of the reality show "The Surreal Life" where she maintained her Christian witness while also gaining the respect of housemates like porn star Ron Jeremy. Tammy makes it clear that she cherishes her children, hence the play on words in the title of this clip.
