German restaurant replaces waitstaff with computers
    Caleythia
    by Caleythia  8-30-2007
I could see it working as a niche kind of thing, especially if you just want a quick bite at a quirky place. But, in general, I'll keep my waiters and waitresses, thanks.

Compiling can take a while. Besides, you've got to blow of some steam somehow ;)

Wow - I'm usually not that jaded about tech support (I loved that job when I did it) but this is really true and really funny!

Interesting post by Whurley - what would a day without open source be like?

Restart firefox and keep your tabs and windows open

The "restart firefox" button when you install a new addon is awesome - this gives you the option to restart anyitme from the file menu while preserving open tabs in all windows.

    Jobs speaks out against DRM
    ericskiff
    by ericskiff  2-9-2007    1
There's a million things I hate about DRM, but the main one is that it's often used to restrict behavior that its not illegal, but is simply not in the record companies favor. Give me a reasonably priced, DRM-free .mp3 download service, and I'll never buy a CD again.

The text to speech on this sounds incredible, and going straight from RSS gives it a whole lot of potential.

We dealt with a lot of these at my old job (providing supportive housing for the formerly homeless). Beware shopping at thrift stores and traveling abroad!

I'm surprised that bluetooth doesn't come built in on most mobile computers yet. Check out engadget for lots more CES coverage

The image is a little too big, but it was too funny not to clip. I'll be watching the keynote very closely, as I'm buying a new macbook, and I've been waiting to make sure there weren't any surprise announcements (like, say, a quad core macbook pro).

    Wireless USB is here!

    by ericskiff  12-5-2006    1
Wireless USB has been a long time coming. With huge data transfer speeds and a nice range, UWB and wireless USB could enable a whole new generation of connected home devices. IPTV and videoconferencing in your kitchen, anyone?

I'm a huge wordpress fanboy. It's simple, elegant, and I can extend it to make it do whatever I need. I'm dying to see what bbPress can do! I'll be installing it soon, that's for sure.

I'd say "working with" rather than "working at" - a slight misquote ;) I met Eric G a few weeks back and got so excited about Clipmarks that I've been spending thursdays here in the office, brainstorming about how I can help build the clipmarks community and spread the word.
