POPSThree Servicemen sculpture in Apalachicola honors Vietnam Vets "And beyond that, he wanted the sculpture to be a heartfelt and simple thank you from the citizens of this nation to the service and sacrifice of the veterans and their families." She quoted from her husband's last public speech in May 1999, a few months before his death. "By the expressions on the faces of the intensity of the strain and the anguish that was part of the Vietnam veterans experience on the battlefield and at homecoming, and by their endurance and youthful dedication to duty, they reveal themselves as true heroes," she said. She told of how the sculptor had learned from his talks with Vietnam vets that "all treasured their deep bonds of loyalty, comradeship and interdependence," or as one veteran put it, "At first we thought we were fighting for our country but soon we came to realize we were fighting for each other."

POPSSoon You Can Clip On the Go-Go in the Air-Air The original article was in The Wall Street Journal. Now that in-flight service is available, what do you suppose is next? Underwater internet service? I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Once in a while, it's nice to be "unavailable."

POPSMy Favorite Search Site for Travel Now, Kayak has added a chart to compare airline fees, which are changing every time we take a breath, it seems. Why does life have to be so complicated? I USED to enjoy traveling, but much of it is losing its' appeal.

POPSPrint Book Sales Down, Ebook Sales Up A sign of things to come, preferences aside. I sell both print and ebooks and just like the majority of my customers, I prefer the print format. However, when e-readers are more affordable and functional, I am pretty certain things will change. Additionally, every generation is increasingly computer literate, which will lead to greater sales of ebooks. I am currently educating myself in the creation and marketing of of dynamic ebooks so that I can be up to speed in the publishing field. If you have an interest in writing an ebook, let me know! Also, I'll have a new website soon that will sell both ebooks and ereaders (some new ones are on the horizon that will be more reader-friendly). What's your opinion? Can you adapt? Would you just read books on your computer or prefer a light-weight reader such as the Kindle or similar?

POPSBo Diddley Dies In Florida At 79 Like B.B. King and other great blues and rhythm-and-blues artists, Diddley's first exposure to music came from church, in this case the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Chicago's South Side. He learned to play the violin and the trombone. At age 12, Diddley took up the guitar after hearing John Lee Hooker's 1949 rhythm-and-blues hit, ``Boogie Chillen.'' ``Diddley claimed that playing the violin influenced his muted-string, choke-neck style of rhythm -- an early forerunner of funk that can be heard on songs like `Pretty Thing,''' the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame says in its official Bo Diddley biography.
