POPSThe Neurology of Grumpiness At the end of this article the doctor noted a form a depression might be one cause of their grumpiness. My Dad's doctor gave him an antidepressant to 'help him sleep' and he is a cheerful old fellow. Now as for my Mama----I think Mom needs some happy pills, too!

POPSIs Daycare Contagious If you have to work, what choice do you have? Find the best care that you can and when you are with your children give them as much love and attention that is possible. Guide them like they are little play cars at an amusement park and you are the rails that hold them in line. You have to constantly monitor them all their young lives. If they jump the rails you have to go after them and put them back on track. No matter how many times that might take. Having them in daycare has nothing to do with good parenting. Being a parent is hard work.

POPSHave Doctors and Lawyers Lost Their Status Both of these professions are noble, wonderful career choices. I think they still carry a great deal of respect. They both require long and punitive courses of study. Then, the doctors require years of resident study which is exhaustive. I would hope that they would only want to go through this educated hell because they wanted to help people. If they look at their professions the way this article says many do, then no wonder they are depressed, and want to quit.

POPSBaggage Ban On Batteries Begins A friend of mine used to throw batteries in his trash when they were no longer working. One day when he threw them in they hit together and ignited a fire in his garbage can. He told me to put electrical tape on the ends of the batteries before disposing of them.

POPSErupted Hot Water Phenomena in Microwave Ovens Check whatever time setting works best for your oven to meet the desired temperature and always refer back to it. If you over-heat water, keep it in the oven until it cools. Don't move it. This sounds like common sense, but like the article says, the water doesn't look like it is boiling. I hope this helps prevent a burn.

POPSStupid Intelligence My goodness. Even Alan Dershowitz recognizes an incomplete, flawed, and/or misinterpreted assessment of Iran's nuclear program. Yet, those with the BDS have hopped on the NIE as though it were handed down from God.

POPSKevin Rudd recoils from climate change pledge Well, well, well. Welcome to real-life governing, PM Rudd. It's amazing that once a person gets into office they have to change their PC stances because they are economically destructive/impractical and would bring national suicide. Too bad he had this reality check *after* the election.

POPSAI Singularity: The Next Stage of Human Evolution? "Technology is heading here. It will predictably get to the point of making artificial intelligence," Yudkowsky said. "The mere fact that you cannot predict exactly when it will happen down to the day is no excuse for closing your eyes and refusing to think about it."

POPS Freemasons::How And When Did They Begin? Given the clandestine nature of the Freemasons, it's not surprising that they give careful consideration before admitting new members. To join, a man must fill out a petition and obtain two sponsors within the Lodge. He will then be voted in by secret ballot. Potential new members are asked whether they believe in God, and they must answer "yes" to be admitted. Although they don't have to be wealthy, members must have enough money to pay membership fees and to make the regular charitable donations that are expected of all Freemasons. New Freemasons start out as Entered Apprentices. During the initiation ceremony, the Freemasons recount the building of King Solomon's Temple and the murder of Hiram Abiff. The new member is blindfolded and confronted by three men, who order him to reveal the Freemasons' secrets. He swears he will not tell, and then pretends to die and be resurrected into Masonry.

POPSHarry Reid's Deficit of Leadership BDS....I guess it will continue until the next Conservative President is sworn into office. When C. Rangel can be bipartisan...well anyone can if they have the best interests of everyone in mind.
