POPSFight the Right-Wing Smears Sad to say, I know and receive email from people (including relatives) who have no problem forwarding right-wing lies and racist propaganda about Obama. I went to this site to have a good source of information to refute the hate emails and replied to all who received, and sent, the smear emails I have received. I encourage you to do the same if you have the misfortune to be sent trashy lies about Barack Obama. To say nothing is to condone the sending and receiving of such emails.

POPSMontsegur And The Cathars The history and injustice of this horrendous saga, as well a many other of similar brutality and lack of simple compassion, has, I must admit, greatly affected my lack of esteem for religion in general.

POPS15 Quotes by Famous Atheists Bertrand Russell: “You find as you look around the world that every single bit of progress in humane feeling, every improvement in the criminal law, every step toward the diminution of war, every step toward better treatment of the colored races, or every mitigation of slavery, every moral progress that there has been in the world, has been consistently opposed by the organized churches of the world. I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world.”

POPSAtheists Need to Chill Michael Shermer makes a point that needs to be made. Atheists need to remember what they stand for , not merely what they are against . Ridicule and contempt have no place in science, and haters should not tarnish its reputation by association. In the words of the greatest consciousness raiser of the 20th century, Martin Luther King, Jr., in his epic "I Have a Dream" speech: "In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline." If atheists do not want theists to prejudge them in a negative light, then they must not do unto theists the same.

POPSUSA: A Nation of Uneducated Morons So tell me, everyone: why are scientists supposed to respect religion, this corrupter of minds, this promulgator of lies, this damnable institution dedicated to delusion, in our culture? Maybe we need to start picketing fundamentalist churches. Maybe it's about time that we recognize religious miseducation as child abuse.

POPSThe Top Dozen Religions of the World I'm amazed that a large portion of the world is Islam. Obviously, there may be drastic implications of a global, Islamic Jihad, which is why peace must be fostered among ALL religions. Unfortunately, Islamic extremists believe our occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan is a threat/war against Islam. America, on the other hand, can't even agree on what the fuck the meaning behind our occupation is.

POPSAngry Atheists Are Hot Authors These guys have many good points, but fundamentalist atheists are just as dangerous as fundamentalists of any other religion. And I always want to ask them, "Which particular god don't you believe in?" - because God is unimaginably more than we can imagine.

POPSOn God: Implications and Etymologies... What constitutes a God? Is it a divine creator? Or even a creator at all? If we consider the etymology of the word, God is that which is invoked. The significant point is that our conception of God developed through worship, and that in a sense, worship and invocation seem to have existed before the idea of a God was so clearly articulated. Think about yourself: who or what do you invoke in your daily lives?
