POPSGas flow to resume after Russia and Ukraine sign deal Seeing is believing, after all the failed attempts to start the gas flowing again. But if gas flow does resume immediately, as hoped for, Ukraine president Yuszczenko reign has come to and end. He blocked a deal for Russian gas at $250.00 per cubic 1000 meters and now must pay $360.00. With leadership like this it's no wonder the Ukrainian economy is tattered.

POPSWall Street Vodoo I say it's time for the federal government to stop lying about it and tell it like it is - without the federal bailout money almost all private banks in the USA are insolvent. Then go ahead take them over and run them in a way that's fairer for everybody. Bank shareholders whoever you may be learn the simple truth your stock is nearly worthless and stop crying about it and get on with your lives.

POPSTax problems complicate Geithners confirmation As New York Federal Bank chairman he was up to his a*s with Wall Street buddies. Most of them, Richard Fuld, Henry Paulson, Bernard Madoff and others are no longer working there. The reasons Geithner has given for not paying his taxes are lies. His accountant couldn't find a loophole for him to escape paying his taxes so Geithner was forced to pay up.

POPSPonzi's Original Swindle Trust is something precious and not to be given when in doubt. I can understand that "seeing is believing" and if it works why question it. But if Ponzi or Madoff had closed down sooner, folded their cards and walked away earlier, before running out of new investors the scheme would have worked, and it would not have been a swindle.

POPSTreasury nominee accounts for own tax errors I doubt Geithner was doing his own taxes and he's lying to cover somebody behind. If in fact he was doing his own taxes, then his status with IMF was a private contractor, and he knew that he was responsible for paying his own taxes. I had a personal experience with H@R Block and when they calculated my Estimated Taxes for the next year my tax preparer, a part time employee, forgot to include Social Security payments. As a result I owed the IRS and I'm still paying for the error.

POPSStuck with the reality check " you can't blame anyone"? Yes I can! Financial institutions greed has ruined the economy. Second if politicians were not so cozy with the private sector billionaires the people in what was a wealthy country would be far better off.

POPSChina losing it's taste for debt from USA US Treasury issues are ground zero so to speak. Financiers around the world consider it the point where you can't lose money thus it's current popularity. However, how long will these investors be content with zero return? Interest rates will rise again and that is why people who have good credit should sell their homes as soon as possible, rather than take on more debt at today's enticing rates only to see themselves underwater tomorrow as in particular the Prime Interest Rate rises.
0
POPSChina losing it's taste for debt from the USA I've read this paragraph 4 times and I can't make heads or tails from it. The simple fact is if China doesn't invest more money in Government backed debt than interest rates, the cost of borrowing money will rise.

POPSChina losing taste for debt from USA China spending 1/7th of its entire economic output, I guess that means gross national product, securing dollars and paid for in dollars. But I question how accurate this story can be knowing that the Chinese Government is closed mouth about everything it does. So where did the 1/7 number come from?

POPSAustria's woman on Wall Street The truth about how Madoff got away with so many irregularities in regards to required business documents fillings may never be known. For sure those who covered his ass have been shredding documents and other correspondence with Madoff.

POPSSenator Claiborne Pell's vision If today's senators have given the $700 billion dollar bailout to the citizens directly instead of giving it back to the bankers the economy wouldn't be in the mess that's it in. Thank god for men like Claiborne Pell

POPSRealtors protest raise in Fanny Mae lending fees $275,000.00 Condo with 20% or $55,000.00 down payment dead beats will be forced after April 1 2009 to pay a 3.25% fee on the mortgage loan. Good News! Naturally the realtors are opposed to the new rule because it will make it harder for them to sell a house. What a shame! Just think about those who can't afford to live over their heads are now forced to play fair and not force those who honor their financial commitments to pay for them. $275,000 minus $55,000 X 3.25% is $7,150.00 " service charge" = $227,150.00. Those people should be jumping up and down with joy that they can even get a mortgage with a 690 credit score. FHFA keep up the good work.

POPSSongs from the heart of the marketing plan The often legitimate accusation that music albums contain only one good song or two is nuts. When you have individuals making decisions on which songs or albums are good that can't hear the difference between a major and minor that is an accusation which is true.

POPSChinese dollars fuel housing bubble Pass the buck "international cooperation" was lacking. That's a lie! When European leaders suggested forming financial regulations George W. Bush said "we do it our way" OK The simple truth is America has had bad leadership for years and now its all to clear that American economy is in serious trouble.

POPSChineese savings help to inflate housing bubble From 2001-2006 the boom years in real estate and consumer spending was financed by the Chinese. Leave it to the experts, quoting Bill Clinton the private sector knows how to do it best. So the Chinese now own America.

POPS'Green jobs compete for stimulus aid' In a nutshell Colin Peppard is correct. But remember you're dealing with non creative people who look to the past for answers to new problems. Simple fact is history does not always repeat itself and saying "this is the way we've always done it" will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

POPSMadoff case failures puts SEC in spotlight SEC front-line workers complaining of being understaffed and overworked funny these are the same complaints you hear from Social Workers. It's highly improbable that without protection from SEC administrators Madoff wasn't arrested long ago. But after their lawyers get through spinning the truth around only the lowest on the totem pole will hang.

POPStax break may have helped cause housing bubble when billions of dollars were invested in purchasing homes only to resell and reap windfall profits without paying taxes the rich just got a whole lot richer. But Middle income homeowners soon realized that the profit they made from the sale of their houses was taken away because they needed housing and when they went to buy again they found prices had risen, so profit for most middle class home sellers was negligible. But those rich enough to buy a few houses and didn't need to worry about finding another place to live in made a killing.

POPSIllinois court won't hear plea to oust Blagojevich The only thing that surprises me about this scandal is that politicians still try to convince voters that high level appointments whether in government or the private sector are never bought . When we all know it's done day-in and day-out. But Blagojevich is so dumb he did it from his own house phone!

POPSPicks made for S.E.C. and Transportation posts Are you kidding, LaHood is not a maverick. Simply suggesting to President Bush that he could, maybe, I think, lose some support from fellow Republicans, as a result of the Iraq conflict. I'm sure that really shook-up president Bush?

POPSFeds cut key rate This is really funny because the Feds stand by helpless as the tail wags the dog. Commercial Banks think they got a gift : $100's of billions of dollars to do what they want with it from the Treasury.Simply put LEND or LOSE should be Fed's response. But instead the idiots just say OK we'll print more money and do it ourselves. HA Ha Ha

POPSFeds cut key rate to near zero The Feds trying to shove dollars down Europe's throat. Printing more money is creating a bigger problem - loss of confidence in the US economy.

POPSMadoff used unregistered side units Madoff has been under suspicion for a long time. Bernie was about to be arrested, but somebody tipped him off. So as a result, he concocted yet another scheme, a confession, before being arrested. Hoping to sway public opinion and sympathy in his favor, his sons turned him in.
