POPSTop 50 Digital Earners - #SuperMedia 36 No surprise that Google was far and away the top earner in digital ad revenue - more the 3 times its nearest competitor (Yahoo). Nice to see that our TM Advertising client SuperMedia made the list at Number 36. Way to go, TM and SuperMedia!

POPSTwitter creating the next P.M. of #Japan Interesting article about how social media has helped a lackluster politician gain nationwide (and global) recognition as a straight-shooting, trustworthy, tireless civil servant. Mr. Edano may now be a real contender for the Prime Minister post in Japan.

POPSFacebook privacy concerns? Try frid.ge Facebook may be "thrilled" to work with the White House on functionality that will allow school principals, administrators and teacher to spy on their students (http://goo.gl/wiQwi), but I am not. This is the last straw. The privacy concerns that have been raised continually about information that Facebook may have shared with game makers and advertisers did not concern me too much. However, allowing the government to spy on children is the last straw. I'm boycotting Facebook. If you want to boycott with me, here's an alternative social networking site. Any chance that #Amplify will provide an #Autopost button for The Fridge? That would be nice.

POPSWhich news networks was first in viewership of the Chilean miners rescue effort? It starts with an F.
Obama keeps saying that the majority of Americans are misled, uninformed and that they just don’t understand the wondrous plans he has for our country. This must be one of the reasons. People keep relying more and more on Fox for news. Personally, I followed the miners coverage online from El Mercurio (the major daily newspaper of Chile). I have a theory for why Fox got a record 7.1MM viewers for this miraculous, foreign event. This event was all about strong religious faith, optimism and industrial strength. A certain kind of person watches Fox. People who believe in the “can-do” spirit of bygone capitalism, who place their highest importance on faith, who respect the awesome feats of industrial science, who value (voluntary) compassion. This type of viewer gravitates towards Fox News – the biased network for faith and capitalism. Obama can call these millions of Americans stupid if he wants to – and Democrats nationwide will face the consequences.

POPSMore liberal stupidity - offering money he doesn't even have for a sick fantasy. Like all progressives, Mr. Friedlander will get the money from other hard-working folks. This stinks of sour grapes and desperation. Air America went off the air because nobody wanted to listen to the drivel it spouted. Mr. Friedlander wishes he had the charisma and chutzpah of Beck. Love him or hate him (and he makes my skin crawl), Beck has a formula for success. Success is always hated by the takers. Plus, does anyone out there really think that Beck could possibly have any kind of interesting, much less sordid, sex life. Eeeww!

POPSCan church and cool co-exist? Amen! I agree. Trying to be more modern, techy and hip is fine, but don't use it as a gimmick. Don't lose the importance of the message by paying too much attention to the delivery. It is the loving community of Christ - its honesty, its acceptance, its compassion, its forgiveness, its love, its joy - that we all need and too often do not find in a church. No amount of twittering, videos, light shows and sex talk can overcome an insincere motive.

POPSWe The People know what to do when money is tight. Why can't our federal government figure that out?? Huh, when normal folks are worried about their personal economy they spend less, save more and do what they can to pay off debts. Amazing. How does anyone think that spending more and more money we do not have gets us out of a financial hole? Once again, our government is like an out-of-control child. The parents - all of us - need to send our politicians out to the yard to pick out a long switch for a hard whoopin'. C'mon November!

POPSTROUBLES wins Lost Man Booker Prize Another book to add to my long list of books I'd like to read someday. Hope I win the Lotto soon or at least continue to be blessed with good eyes that will last me through retirement and beyond.

POPSHow the IPad Will Change the Advertising Business - Small Agency Diary - Advertising Age Great article on the impact that the iPad will have on publishing and advertising. Despite my fanatical love of owning, holding, marking, caressing and smelling books, I do have Kindle/iPad envy. I'm always reading 4 or 5 books at once. Being able to "pack" a classic novel, a lengthy memoir and some sci-fi/fantasy "books" in one neat little device for a trip would be great.

POPSFox up - again. Both CNN and MSNBC down - again. Folks are sick of the liberal love-fest on CNN and MSNBC. Where are the investigative journalists? Where are the watchdogs? How much Obama-kissing and victim worship can people stand? The answer is clear. The majority of people know they have been had and they are looking for answers and a way out of this mess. Fox is the only one fighting the conservative fight and pushing for reform.

POPSEat that frog! It really does make the rest of the day better. My worst habit is procrastination. I've been using this strategy for getting things done the past couple of weeks at the office and it really seems to help. I'm easily distracted by e-mail, conversations, writing to-do lists, e-mail, getting coffee, meetings, e-mail, checking the news online and e-mail. So, I turned my e-mail off and symbolically shut my non-existent cubicle door to tackle a major task (the one I dread, the one that will take a long time, the one that requires major brainpower). Once that is done I feel like I can conquer the world and the day-to-day distractions seem to lose their power over me and I'm able to eat through my more appetizing tasks the rest of the day.

POPSPlayers like Fujita might make me love the NFL again. How nice to see humility and charity in the NFL. All of the scandal, greed, and inhumanity of NFL players, coaches and owners has almost turned me off of the NFL completely. Then, you have a class act like Fujita. I hope that others players take his lead and that the people on the receiving end of his charity are as blessed by his gift as he is in the giving of it.

POPSPlaying an instrument may improve reading. Reading is my favorite hobby and gives me so much pleasure. My toddle, however, shows no interest in letters or words or even sitting still for a story. He is a sparkling bundle of energy - a health benefit for him that I hope sticks. As luck would have it, I just signed him up for his first extracurricular activity - a semester of music at his school. He loves music so, if this theory is valid, maybe there's hope that he'll soon love to read - and be an Olympic Gold Medalist in some fast-paced sport.

POPSThe rats are bailing out of the sinking Cap & Trade ship.. I'm stealing this comment from Adam Hendricks that exactly expresses my thoughts on the matter: "The scam is falling apart. What really slays me is how all the AGW religionists believed that the rationalists were somehow corporate stooges when, in fact, the entire scam was hatched in the bowels of Enron and carried forward by Goldman-Sachs and General Electric, the former so they could run the carbon credit market and the latter so they could make billions off of government mandated products like CFLs. The oil and coal interests got involved as part of the whole "keep your enemies close" strategy. The rank and file greens are well-meaning but naive and, apparently, very poor at statistics."

POPSFirst black governor calls on Barack Obama to sack senior aides The U.K. is becoming the beacon of free press these days. Better journalism on U.S. politics than the U.S. news media. If Democrats do not wake from their bed of laurels and emerge from their cocoon of perceived intellectual superiority the voters will shake them from their slumber in a very rude fashion.
