About me
A fourty-something guy interested in history, philosophy, archaeology, information technologies and literature. A vegetarian, libertarian, agnostic and book worm. A smoker, loves alcoholic drinks (Bourbon and Raki are favourites). Using the net since mid 1990's. Married (update: divorced in December 2008), has no children. Loves cats, plants (has lots of pots in his home), deeply in love with the seas. A sci-fi fan - but very selective: such as Philippe K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke. Strongly believes the world will experience catastrophic transformations in and around year 2012.

Rise of man theory ‘out by 400,000 years’
invictus
by invictus  6-25-2007
A very controversial, unorthodox and exciting new theory on the history of humanity. Professor Helmut Ziegert from Germany, a very experienced and bright archaeologist, comes up with new findings that could shake all we know about the distant past of homo sapiens and the starting point of the Neolitic Age, which was the beginning of our civilization. Sean Kingsley, an archaeologist and the managing editor of Minerva, said: “This research is nothing less than a quantum leap in our understanding of Man’s intellectual and social history. For archaeology it’s as radical as finding life on Mars. “As a veteran of over 81 archaeological surveys and excavations . . . Ziegert is nothing if not scientifically cautious, which makes the current revelation all the more exciting.”

Dark matter, parallel universes and "ancient lore"
invictus
by invictus  8-26-2006
The book explains that Mayan calendars note an "exhaling" and "inhaling" period for Mother Earth. Right now, she's inhaling. And that's bad news. "During the years of the inhaling process, prophecy states there will be wars, civil unrest, the collapsing of governments, of nations, of religions, and of commerce." Sounds like the evening news.

Electric Lights in Egypt?
invictus
by invictus  4-18-2006    1
This is among the well known enigmas of Ancient Egypt: The reliefs on the walls of Dendera Temple depicts some objects like "electric bulbs", cables, isolators and generators. Very provocative and intriguing. The article is a bit long and gives a detailed story about these enigmatic pictures so I recommend the clip source if you are interested.
