About me
A fourty-something guy interested in history, philosophy, archaeology, information technologies and literature. A vegetarian, libertarian, agnostic and book worm. A smoker, loves alcoholic drinks (Bourbon and Raki are favourites). Using the net since mid 1990's. Married, has no children. Loves cats, plants (has lots of pots in his home), deeply in love with the seas. A sci-fi fan - but very selective: such as Philippe K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke. Strongly believes the world will experience catastrophic transformations in and around year 2012.
Why I use Clipmarks
Because it is the best online tool I have ever used to collect, categorize and archive information, as well as being an ideal community environment. Clipmarks has become an addiction for me in just a few months.

Unearthing clues of catastrophic earthquakes
invictus
by invictus  4-17-2008
There is still much to be known about ancient earthquakes. The instrumental record for seismology is short, going back 100 years. The historical seismology record is a much longer, including written documentation such as news accounts and diaries, which vary widely by culture and region. The archeoseismic record serves as the bridge between historical accounts and the paleoseismic record of Earth’s history.

Iraq: From One Dictator to Another?
invictus
by invictus  4-14-2008    6
"Over a thousand Iraqis got killed and more than that number wounded just for a game of chess between warlords," Mohammad Alwan, a lawyer in Baghdad, told IPS. "All of them call for dissolving militias while they keep militias of their own. Most of those in power in the government are militia leaders."

My Five Year Old Kid vs. Their Five Year Old War
invictus
by invictus  3-15-2008    2
"I do not want to tell my kid when she's ten: this war has been going all of your life. I don't want to tell her that next year! I want to tell her, yes, there was a war for the first five years of your life, but then people had had enough! They knew voting for a fake anti-war candidate wasn't going to end the war, they knew watching TV and bitching about it wasn't going to end the war, and they finally voted with their feet. I want to tell my kid that on the fifth anniversary of the war, people said, ENOUGH! And hit the streets in San Francisco and in over forty other cities around the country, and reinvigorated an anti-war movement that brought the war to an end."
