Oil Exports From N. Iraq Rise Sharply
    jatfla
    by jatfla  7-26-2008    2
More good news. The $$$, I hope, is going back into rebuilding the Country and will add to a decrease in our aid and will increase investors moving in to promote a growing economy. In time, I hope that those who claimed that we went into Iraq for oil will get their wish.

Obama: 'There's no doubt that Gen. Petraeus does not want a timetable'
    jatfla
    by jatfla  7-22-2008
Of course Gen. Petraeus is only concerned about financing his pet war in Iraq. s/off. Petraeus doesn't want *artificial* timetables that would undermine the progress that's been made. Maybe if the Senator would come back to the US, assume the job he's being paid to do (deal with legislation in the Senate), learn a little and not sound so stupid then he might be better able to help the US economy which HE claims is really hurting.

Can't deny the facts that are finally coming out. Those who opposed the war will never concede or believe...but time will reveal all the information. My NIL was there. He saw. The American press sooooo wanted to denigrate the President and his decisions. I acknowledge all did not go well, but no one is omniscient. I stand by what the President has done and his reasonings behind it.

People in the *real* world know who is truly important. No disrespect to Ms. Jolie, but her influence is minimal when it comes to life & death issues. This is also true of Crews, Baldwin, Franken, Hayden, etc..... Celebrities are useless when it comes to getting things accomplished. Nice article that gives credit where credit is due.

So the naive Senator is learning that things aren't as easy to "change" as his rhetoric once suggested. Funny how a little more information about a subject and a closer step to the Presidency can make a person realize that things are different in the real world verses the campaign world.

    by jatfla  5-22-2008
AND when the President vetoes this bill, who will get blamed for not supporting the troops? Congress, again, shows their utter contempt for the American process, it's military, our tax dollars, the intelligence of it's citizens. Blackmail, pure and simple. If Congress does not want America troops in Iraq then take the stand, vote, and deal with the consequences. But they won't because they KNOW it is not in our national interests to do so; but they will play politics with every ounce of treachery they can muster against this Administration, our military personnel, and the responsible use of OUR money.

This is wait-and-see since he was said to have been killed last year, I think. The word "detained" is troubling, indicating that there might be a chance for his release; but maybe the BBC was being polite & diplomatic. He had a $5m bounty on his head. Even if he has been captured an amazing *escape* is always possible.

As the world markets begin to invest more into the Iraqi oil business, I think the level of improving conditions will occur even faster. US businesses can expand their markets. We can keep a close eye on Iran, Russia, Syria, China, etc.... Concerning the 'oil-for-food' problem that the UN members, in violation to it's own mandates, exploited and profited from... the Iraqi people and the world can now mutually benefit.

    jatfla
    by jatfla  11-14-2007
Just a general assessment of the *current* climate in Iraq and in the US. Despite every negative event that can be scrounged up, there is hope in Iraq for the US to be able to successfully turn the security and management of Iraq over to their elected government. It's happening even now. The rest is up to them That is not to deny that there maybe/will be in-fighting and jockeying for power. The US, and others, most certainly will maintain a "presence" in the Country. It would be foolish, in light of our national and personal investments, to do otherwise. But the Democrats *apparent* desire for defeat, failure and dishonorable withdrawal won't be there. Shame, shame on them.
