POPSInteresting Questia has a lot of content, so i'm surprised it's only 67,000 titles available for preview through WorldCat.

POPSThe Android will show us the way Interesting that out of all the apps that SAI could have picked, it chose one that translates text messages. Odd that SAI didn't realize that Google's own gTalk already does this with machine translation. But more telling perhaps that people realize this is a key technology of the future. I want to talk to China or Iraq or Iran. People are interesting, just like me, no matter where they come from, and that's going to make this world better and smaller.

POPSSame when the telephone was born? I need to research this, but I'm sure people must have wondered similarly about the long term effects of a population using the new fangled telephone in lieu of written correspondence or a personal visit.

POPSMicrosoft's take on tagging/social bookmarking...? Those features probably do appeal to a too small percentage, but is that a disservice to those who haven't yet figured out the benefits of social bookmarking or otherwise socially enabled sites? Hmmmm. Would it be too hard to implement them and just let people judge for themselves the usefulness? And what is potential user base for these services anyway?

POPSElectronic Books article in the NYTimes Decent article summarizing the new tech offerings and services that are coming down the pike. I like the fact that the majors are sticking more titles out there. Speaking from the insider perspective, it's really more of a production and operations issue than anything else in getting ebooks to retailers.

POPSWTF on concatenation this stripped down WTF belongs on my wordie entry for concatenation. As soon as wordie.org is back up, I'm sticking this up there...

POPSCozmoTV This seems like the biz model for a lot of startups. It's no longer necessary to drive traffic to your site. You can drive traffic through embedded widgets across the web and greatly increase the chance of being seen and, ergo, becoming relevant to the web-surfer-at-large.

POPSPlanet Earth 2.0 1.5 times the size. Nice growth curve over version 1.0. I hear Switzerland is beautiful this time of year...

POPSFlashcards gone Wild! This site was started and is still run by a highschool kid. It looks pretty nice...and the features are quite useful.
