Why I use Clipmarks
I Love the convenience of saving the "important" part of articles which I enjoy.
I appreciate the wealth of knowledge on eclectic topics which is available on clipmarks. Glad that I'm a clipper......I end up spending more time on this site every week. I am meeting some really nice people too. It is sad to see that the media cannot be trusted; the truth is out there -- but who's truth?

I am not a fan of AARP. They are an insurance provider, but they don't provide medigap insurance to people under 65 ie the disabled.(at least not in NJ). This makes me a tad bit suspicious of their actions. However, this petition seems to be on the up and up.

Why We Laugh And Cry
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  8-27-2007    14
I'm the type of person who can laugh and/or cry at just about anything. It makes me happy to do both. Sometimes people can say to me, "Oh, don't cry" but I most often feel and say "Oh don't worry, it's a good cry" and this article explains why it always apparently feels so good afterwards doing either. We have emotions and responses to them for a reason. Use them and we may just live longer, healthier and happier lives because of it! :)

FDA rejecting more drugs
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  8-19-2007
There are 2 sides here. First I can see that the FDA would want to protect their image, and the drug companies avoid lawsuits (which we just end up paying when they raise drug prices). Second -- I can see terminally ill people desperate to try anything. I don't believe that the courts should deny the dying as long as they stipulate an understanding of the nature of experimental drugs. People need to stop being so ready to "sue". I used the drug remicade (it was not experimental, the potential side effects were documented). I happened to be in the small percentage of people who could not tolerate it; I developed diabetes & some other side effects. That's just the way it was - I choose to take it, knew possible side effects - have to deal with it now. I am not joining any groups that are suing....would that give me my health back????

Your Body Is Younger Than You Think
thisnamecantbetaken

Could stem cells be the key to immortality? Would we really want to live forever? I'm still on the fence regarding stem cell research. Although it could potentially help millions of people suffering from different diseases, what are the downsides? What will the net gain be? A runanway and accelerating world overpopulation? What are the potentials for abuse? (If there are any, they surely will be abused.) To me, it's a bit of a Pandora's box. Dunno... more philosophizing needed.
