Why I use Clipmarks
I Love the convenience of saving the "important" part of articles which I enjoy.
I appreciate the wealth of knowledge on eclectic topics which is available on clipmarks. Glad that I'm a clipper......I end up spending more time on this site every week. I am meeting some really nice people too. It is sad to see that the media cannot be trusted; the truth is out there -- but who's truth?

Does Your Cat Eat Strange Things?
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  10-9-2009    5
Genetic predisposition ---- wool sucking, is seen more frequently in Siamese and Birman cats. Environmental factors. Is the cat bored or seeking attention? Compulsive disorder. Once other possibilities are ruled out, some pet behavioralists start to look into the possibility of compulsive disorder. munching on live power cords can be hazardous to a cat’s health–but the other danger is that ingested materials can get stuck in your cat’s stomach or intestine, which can obstruct the passage of food and may cut off the blood supply to organs–either scenario can be fatal As well, many houseplants are toxic to cats; chewing or eating these plants can have mild symptoms as well as fatality. If your cat has a history of ingesting non-food items and becomes lethargic, vomits, or displays other concerning behavior, take them to your veterinarian immediately See the ASPCA’s full list of plants toxic to cats More at the site

Cats purrfect the art of getting what they want: study
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  7-14-2009    2
When humans were played purrs recorded while cats were actively seeking food at equal volume to purrs recorded in non-solicitation contexts, even those with no experience of cats judged the ?solicitation? purrs to be more urgent and less pleasant," she said. When the team re-synthesised the purrs to remove the embedded cry, the urgency ratings decreased significantly. McComb concluded that the cats were using the special purr to make their views known without risking irritating humans with an overt meow. However, this solution appears only to work in cats living one-on-one with their owners -- cats in large households usually have to meow to be heard.

The Bunny with 2 noses
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  4-1-2009    1
"It's no April Fools joke. The baby bunny really does have two noses. A Connecticut pet shop worker found the nosey bunny in a delivery of 6-week-old dwarf rabbits that arrived at the Milford store last week. Both noses have two nostrils. The owner of the Purr-Fect Pets shop says he's never seen anything like it in 25 years in the business. He says the bunny eats, drinks and hops around like the rest of the litter. Beardsley Zoo director Gregg Dancho says the deformity could be the result of too much inbreeding or the parents' exposure to pesticides or poisons."

"The team found that these remains from the Pleistocene Epoch (1.8 million years ago to 10,000 years ago) could be divided into two groups: the American Lion which lived in North America, and the Cave Lion which lived in northern Europe, Russia, Alaska and the Yukon."
