POPSGoogle poised to become your phone company Though still in invite-only mode, Google Voice has about 580,000 active users and nearly 1.5 million registered users, according to a Google filing with the FCC. If you are interested in the combination, you might want to sign up for Gizmo5 before the acquisition is formally announced, since Google often freezes new registrations at companies it acquires until it figures out how to integrate the technology. !

POPS How to Bypass “This video is not available in your country” Both workarounds above are brilliant and work like a charm. Also, if someone posts a youtube on CM, for example, and I get the dreaded *not available in your country" message, you can't even see what the youtube was supposed to be! So, to get around that, I just do a Google search for the youtube URL itself and the top search result will tell you the title and exactly what video they want to keep from you. Then I just paste that title into youtube's search box and voila! .:D I hope this will help others who also HATE that damned *not available* message. Enjoy. .:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pXWTG7XzH4

POPSYou Can't Have A Picnic Without Ants. “Don’t feed the troll” Simple and surefire rule. Trolls feed on your reactions. Ignore them. Put comments under moderation. This way you can approve or disapprove of inappropriate comments. Don’t be overly sensitive just because they go against what you stood for. Debate is healthy. Ban them. If you have persistent trolls, you might just want to block them. This way they will not be able to wreck havoc as they please. If you remove a post, aren't you preventing free speech? Discussion boards are by design a forum for open communication, a place where the community is encouraged to freely discuss its opinions. Only remove troll posts when they become disruptive to open communication. A troll is actually silencing the voice of a majority of the community members. Ask the troll to take their comments elsewhere.

POPSHow to Install Extensions in Google Chrome Interesting but i'll pass on this one. ____________________________________ For valid extensions, the Installed extensions section in the Extensions manager, displays the confirming information. Uninstalling or disabling the extensions is also just a matter of a single click from the extensions page. But all this brouhaha for just three sample extensions! It could be a big letdown, if not for third party developers working behind the scenes on extensions of their own. I can straightaway suggest to you two sites that could empower your browser by a bit… Chromeextensions Chromeplugins These sites are not associated to Google but are merely a place for independent developers. But they are the groundbreakers in every sense of the word as Chrome tries to become the internet’s Swiss army knife like Firefox. The salvo has been fired by Google. With time it could be a toss-up between browsers. We just have to pick the browser we want.

POPSSponsored search results lead to malware If you're not sure, verify the URL. Microsoft and Google have large payrolls, but the search giants don't employ literal armies to review ad submissions. If you're at all suspicious of an ad's legitimacy, check the URL via a service such as hpHosts, which tracks domain names that researchers have reported as malicious. Help vendors by reporting malicious advertisers. To report bogus ads on Google, e-mail security at google.com. This is likely to be more effective than reporting the site via the search giant's online form. If you discover malware purveyors advertising in Bing's results, e-mail secure at microsoft.com. Yahoo, however, offers only a Security Phishing Report Form.

POPSGoogle targeted in e-mail scam Other addresses include Comcast and Earthlink accounts. It is not clear whether the new list was part of the same phishing attack that collected the Hotmail addresses or a separate scam. "Our guidance to customers is to exercise extreme caution when opening unsolicited attachments and links from both known and unknown sources, and that they install and regularly update their anti-virus software." security expert Graham Cluley of Sophos advised users to change their passwords as soon as possible. "I'd also recommend that people change the password on any other site where they use it," he said. About 40% of people had the same password for every website they used, he added.

POPSThe Best Way To Effectively Clean LCD Monitor Screens
NO-NO’s: * Never use cleansing agents like window cleaners, soap solutions etc. These contain chemicals that can harm the screen. In particular you should avoid anything that contains the likes of ammonia, acetone, toluene or ethyl alcohol. * Don’t spray directly on the screen. If you can’t find an atomizer bottle, you can pour some liquid onto the cloth just make sure it is not soaking wet. Again do all this away from the laptop * Do not use tissue papers, newspaper or shower towels to clean the screen. You can easily scratch the screen with these. * Don’t use tap water, it always contains some dissolved salts that can harm the screen. * Don’t clean while the laptop/computer is powered on. Turning off not only gives you a nice black screen that lets you see the stains easily, you also avoid the risk of damaging your computer accidentally. * Don’t put too much pressure on the screen while cleaning. Doing so can permanently damage the screen.

POPS6 Reasons Why Mozilla Firefox Is Safe Compared To Internet Explorer
While statistics put Internet Explorer clearly ahead as the most widely used web browser, it’s clear to many people that it is not due to the excellent programming. the practice of ‘bundling’ the infamous browser with the every copy of the operating system represents the primary reason behind its crushing dominance. ~~~ 4. Conscious users can install NoScript, an add-on that takes care of vulnerabilities that are not yet patched, either in Firefox or other plug-ins such as Java, JavaScript and Adobe’s Flash. It achieves this goal by allowing the user to selectively enable interactive objects that the user decides to trust, automatically blocking the rest. 5. Security through obscurity; malicious programmers will always target the browser with the largest user base, especially if that user base is less tech savvy. 6. Firefox uses a service provided by Google that notifies the user before entering a potentially malicious web site. These websites ask for your financial data und

POPSTop 5 Current Email Scams You Should Know About continued...........Virus E-Mails Many people who want to scam you will create programs and spy applications that will send them your bank details as soon as you use any online monetary service. They normally skulk around in the attachments of e-mails. Many scammers will find a funny picture or video and will send it to as many people as they can. They are getting into the mindset of your typical office worker who will forward the e-mail to all his/her family, friends and co-workers. When these email scams are successful, scammers can often retrieve thousands of peoples details. Think about it. If they send it to one person who then sends it to thirty, each of these people will again send it to all their contacts. Hundreds of peoples’ details all in a very short space of time.

POPSThe Top Antivirus and Spyware Removals to Avoid Like the Plague Eventually getting hit by a nasty computer virus, trojan or severe Adware infection is bound to happen. These problems strike both experienced as well as novice computer users, and the only indication that something is wrong might be that a strange ad window keeps automatically popping up whenever you’re browsing the Internet or your computer slows down to an annoying crawl. Many people who are faced with these issues automatically turn to the Internet for either free or paid antivirus software. There have been many MUO articles covering various free antivirus or antispyware tools, such as Mark’s review of AVG or Bill’s review of Spyware Terminator. However, since so many people turn to the Internet when such a tragedy strikes, I wanted to take a moment to list some of the fake antivirus and spyware removals that you should stay away from or you’ll find your computer infected even worse.~~~~~~~~~ more at the site

POPSHow Does Spyware, Malware or Crapware Get on My Computer? Malware, spyware, and other junk software makes it onto your computer for a number of reasons: * You installed something you really shouldn’t have, from an untrustworthy source. Often these include screensavers, toolbars, or torrents that you didn’t scan for viruses. * You didn’t pay attention when installing a “reputable” application that bundles “optional” crapware. * You’ve already managed to get yourself infected, and the malware installs even more malware. * You aren’t using a quality Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More info at the source. Excellent article if you are interested in this kind of thing.
