POPSVan der Sloot Charged with Extortion in Holloway Case Van der Sloot was arrested Thursday in Chile as a suspect in the death of a 21-year-old Stephany Flores of Peru. She was found with a broken neck in a Lima hotel Sunday, five years to the day after Holloway disappeared. The two-count complaint also charged van der Sloot with wire fraud stemming from the $15,000. A statement from Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty said that she "extends her deepest sympathy to the family of Stephany Flores Ramirez and prays for swift and sure justice." She said that she was grateful for the prayers and support she's received. A message left for Van der Sloot's attorney, Joe Tacopina of New York City, was not immediately returned. * READ THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT (.pdf) * CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF JORAN VAN DER SLOOT'S ARREST Van der Sloot Charged with Extortion in Holloway Case http://bit.ly/bZ0OAa http://www.myfoxatlanta.com

POPSManaging Wildlife Populations I recommend reading the full article. My own feeling is whilst this is a success story generally, bringing the numbers of elephants in Sth Africa from virtual extinction into now finding a solution to manage their population growth. There is a huge irony that is much more subtle.

POPSAt 31,000 mph, Space Probe Gets Halfway to Pluto in Record Time; ETA: July 2015 Should make for good visuals... During that time, the probe will capture 4.5 gigabytes of data, which it will have to keep sending the four-and-a-half hours back home for months. With its main mission accomplished, the craft will keep moving away from the sun, following in the extrasolar footsteps of the earlier Pioneer and Voyager missions, drifting ever farther away from us.
