Timing is everything, as they say. Iberia Bank is betting big that the timing for Florida expansion is now. Even if they are early, they can average down with new purchases...just like the stock market.

Attention Mr. Bank President
marcsp
by marcsp  11-22-2009
The temptation to try some fancy footwork when your bank is in trouble, will ultimately backfire as it did for this guy. Although this story will get shoved to the back pages, I will watch as it progresses. I think the Feds. will want to make an example out of someone with such a high profile.

Louisiana Tax Credits For Digital Media
marcsp
by marcsp  11-10-2009
Computers are being used more and more in the making of all kinds of movies, not just animated films. So is there that much difference between video game design and movie design? Louisiana is well positioned to capitalize on the growing film industry in the state to help grow a digital arts community. In New Orleans, we have always had a thriving artist community working in the construction of Mardi Gras floats. Good article and great concept.

CIT The Aftermath of BK
marcsp
by marcsp  11-2-2009
There are alternatives for clients of CIT. In the factoring industry there is enough capacity to handle the runoff. One very good solution is the Receivables Exchange whom we represent and are an approved introducing firm. The real concern in pursuing new business contracts is the release of the existing contracts and UCC filings.

Now Is The Time To Buy Your Building
marcsp
by marcsp  11-1-2009
If you are one of the lucky small businesses still doing well in this economy, you should give serious consideration to buying your own building. SBA interest rates have never been this low and will not last. Sellers are increasingly desperate to get rid of property. The opportunity is now.

Interest rates are going up
marcsp
by marcsp  10-31-2009
With short term rates at or near zero, they can't o lower. The only way way rates can go is up. The questions remain; how high and how fast. This article does a much better job than I can about explaining what the bond market is facing. maybe the move up in rates won't be as dramatic as the article suggests, but we all should prepare ourselves for it.

Forget About Starting That New Bank
marcsp
