POPSBush: those who disagree with him "slander America" How very, very cheap - taking those who disagree with HIM and labeling them slanderers of AMERICA. He attempts to manipulate people who want to be patriotic into sitting down, shutting up, and asking no questions about his abuse of power, so he can do whatever he wants with their money.

POPSJuan Cole: MANY TORTURED DETAINEES INNOCENT! Why habeas corpus is Morality 101: "prisoners were routinely abused even after it became clear that they had no intelligence value" We have no right to imprison and torture innocent people. Apparently, some previously innocent prisoners were so radicalized by US torture that they took up arms after being released.

POPSGAO: Faulty defense accounting, 3rd year in a row Little accountability, transparency; cites large contractor billings in "miscellaneous" category; we really don't know how our money is being spent, or if contractors are taking us to the cleaners in the GWOT (global war on terror)

POPSFormer DIA Director: Bush veto of anti-torture bill "a mistake" "good interrogators don't need those techniques"- DIA agent laughed "at the idea that anyone would be so incompetent as to use any of these techniques." Rebukes Perino and would fire McConnell (Dir. Natl Intel) - Retired Army Lt General Harry E Soyster, Director of Defense Intelligence Agency during Desert Shield/Storm

POPSUN: Israel guilty of colonialism, apartheid, occupation "Acts of terror against military occupation must be seen in historical context," Dugard says. "This is why every effort should be made to bring the occupation to a speedy end. Until this is done, peace cannot be expected, and violence will continue." As long as there is occupation, there will be terrorism, Dugard argues. Dugard was appointed in 2001 as an unpaid expert by the now-defunct U.N. Human Rights Commission to investigate only violations by the Israeli side, prompting Israel and the U.S. to dismiss his reports as one-sided. Israel refused to allow him to conduct a U.N.-mandated fact-finding mission on its Gaza offensive in 2006.
