The ADHD Advantage: Did the “Hyper” Gene Benefit Our Nomadic Ancestors?
Mohir
by Mohir  6-18-2008    2
"So, in other words, all of us with ADHD need to head back to the desert with a pack of camels loaded up with tents to really make the most of our “disorder” (how dare they call it that when it turns out it’s an evolutionary advantage unless you’re a semi-comatose couch potatoes). Of course half of us will absent-mindedly forget to bring essentials—like water—but we’ll have a lot of fun. Who’s with me?"

Ten Myths of Forgiveness
Aribeth
by Aribeth  2-18-2008    9
 8. If we forgive, we are being disloyal to those the offending party hurt. 9. We forgive only on the basis of certain conditions such as getting an apology. Forgiveness is unconditional or it is not forgiveness. If we make out forgiveness conditional on what the other party does, such as apologizing or promising new behavior, we have made the perpetrator the decision maker in our process of forgiving. Ironically, this kind of thinking turns our lives over to the very person who has hurt us. 10. Forgiveness isn’t valid unless it is accepted by the other party. This myth is reinforced by the common phrase, “to offer our forgiveness,” as if it has to be accepted to be valid. Forgiveness is not offered, it is granted. It is our gift to ourselves.

How to talk to shyer and/or less social people
Aribeth
by Aribeth  1-27-2008    14
-Don't be dismissive if they seem to dislike an outgoing person. -Don't be overly solicitous. -Be wary of topics they may not be comfortable with. -If you want to do something with them assume you're going to have to ask. -Don't take it personally if they want to escape after spending a few hours with you. I have been to both sides.Very interesting site, btw.
