POPSToday's Topic: What's Weird in the Wikis Another interesting Blog Site I found while perusing the Net.. The "Paul Is Dead" rumors go all the way back to the latter 60's and for a while was a huge phenomenon focusing around the "demise" of the left-handed Beetle. Some of the clues and hints that the Beetle's were supposedly sending in their album art and song lyrics are still quoted today...

POPSThe SECRET Warehouse from Indiana Jones with contents I use a similar concept in a role playing game. This was a HUGE list and hard to pare down to 1000 characters and have to skip some hilarious items like: Two strange electronic devices, found with a set of identifcation for "Commander Pavel Chekov, Starfleet." A heave metal box, 75cm on a side, painted in military green. Each side has the words, "This side towards enemy" printed on it. (Nuclear claymore mine) The "magic gun" that fired the "magic bullet" that killed JFK A large stone tablet, reconstructed from pieces, with writing on it. It is Hebrew and has Commandments 11 through 17 Microscope slide labelled "Turin Shroud section No. 325", with piece of material reading "Made In Korea" in tiny letters Snake Plisken's death certificate A searchlight with the sillouette of a bat on it and Universal Solvent (we think) (bring your own container) (hurry) (never mind...) A great and funny list

POPSSupercontinent Pangea Gets Climate Rethink From Discovery... Topic interested me as it has been some time since any rethinking of the Ancient Past stagnated after the Kahoutek Comet hit Earth and resulting global cooling killed off the dinosaurs. The Paleozoic Age is history's most diverse zoological period other than modern times. Learning more of this ancient past helps us understand the cycle of life and death that wipes out upwards of 92% of Earth species when the cycle occurs. The relative time-frame is every 50 million years o0r so.. The last one? The destruction caused by Kahoutek was roughly 65 million years ago. To Say the Least, We are Overdue...

POPSPenny Postcards Tired of E-Cards??? Want to try something different for once? I found this site looking for a card for a dear friend's birthday the other day. I had to come back today to share it with all of you. It is fresh and funny and anything over a hundred years old that they can get their paws on you can find. Tagged and categorized, I do not think you can go wrong... and what was naughty 100+ years ago would not raise an eyebrow today... Oh, and monkeys are VERY BIG here! Fair warning.

POPSEarth as Art Gallery I have only one thing to say about this site: AWESOME! Not in the surfer use either. Truly, an experience leaving you catching your breath.

POPSExplorers, Daredevils & Record Setters of the 30's The Twenties and Thirties have always been an area of interest to me. The Roaring Twenties, where we drank Bathtub Gin and danced the Charleston. Speakeasies everywhere! (One reporter did an experiment in 25 different US Cities where he timed how long it would take to be able to buy illegal liquor. Shortest time was 21 seconds. Longest was 3 hours and 19 minutes. That must have been a "Dry County.") America was in love with the "new" vogue and any fads it could find. Just a few examples: phone booth stuffing (25 college students at University of Chicago), Marathon Dancing, Flagpole Sitting, Racecar Driving, Monopoly, the :"Talkies," Radio Programs, Coney Island, Daredevil Flying, Long-Distance Swimming, Harry Houdini, Solo Flights, Self-Made Millionaires, the Gangster (especially Al Capone who courted the media), Exploring the Unknown, and Political Radical Causes! History is amazing!

POPSWeird Hotels The author of Weirdomatic.com may think they are weird but I LOVE THEM! OK, all but the Coffins in Japan. I read too many cyberpunk novels in the 80s! The Mayan Pyramid is only in the planning stages but it is due to open in 2010... My favorite without a doubt is the Beckham Canyon Cavern Hotel...

POPSTODAY IN ROTTEN HISTORY from Rotten.com NO ONE should see this as an endorsement of Rotten.com by me. This site is something that should be treated like a leper at an orgy. And on this site, that may not just be a metaphor! Some of the most terrible things are here and this is att best, the tamest portion. Seekers wishing to go further are warned....

POPSFrank Buck - Bring 'em Back Alive Buck was a man of his era... Hard drinking, hard living, self-made entrepreneur and showman extraordinaire. Buck's fame led to an entire occupation by circus workers today - wild animal tamer. Never a man to turn down a "buck," Buck was a shameless self-promoter and claimed to have even tracked down a Yeti once.

POPSBlackbeard (S9 Biography)
The Scourge of the Spanish Main and the last Great Pirate of the Age of Sail (Jean LaFitte was a smuggler) Blackbeard's life is shrouded in myth and legend and facts about him are verd hard to verify 300 years later. Edward Teach or possibly Thatch, was famous for several things that are documented and reek of the strange and as Kenneth Hite says, High Weirdness. He would drink a mixture of gunpowder and rum set aflame... Talk about a Belch you do not want to be around. He tied "slow matches" (used for lighting cannons) into his hair and beard so there would be a wreath of smoke around his head. He shot his best friend and first mate, Israel Hands in the knee, crippling him for life just a day before his death at Okecroake Island off NC. When Israel asked why, Teach said he was saving his life! (Knew about his own death? Planned it himself?) Weirdest Fact: Held Charleston, SC hostage for several weeks until his ransom was paid - a box of Native herbs and Tobacco... See what I

POPSHorror.net Horror Search And Directory Categories Do you prefer searching the web or browsing through directories? I like a little of both and I tell you what burns my butt every time is when a link is broke and the damn engine or directory just lets it slide. i don't have time to check out every link but i will say this: You will not find a more complete Horror Directory than here or on it's sister site, Horror:Search and Destroy... As for the black cuts, well the letters were white on black background so I will copy and paste those cuts in here: Horror.net Horror Search And Directory Categories Horror is the feeling of revulsion that usually occurs after something frightening is seen, heard, or otherwise experienced. It is the feeling one gets after coming to an awful realization or experiencing a hideous revelation. Horror has also been defined as a combination of terror and revulsion. We are horror... we are horror.net.

POPSYes it is True you Can Own Land on the Moon and Mars - RIGHT!
Today I found this interesting offer to buy an acre or so on the Moon or Mars. One acre on the Moon costs $29.95! Be One of the Ten largest property owners on the Moon and immediately you are set for the Colony to be sent when... we get around to it. I find the funniest thing is that this was posted in early 2005 and the server is still active I tried to get a pic of the moon phase with today's date and time and I got the Moon but not the date and time.. Even I have to admit it is an INTERESTING offer but if they are still up and running I suppose someone is getting there certified and sealed document of deed property on the Moon. Do you ever think those TEN Largest Landholders will ever set foot on the Moon? Well, no offense to you but was born at night, just not last NIGHT! This one made me laugh but feel a little sad at the same time as someone is being conned big time! Final Note: I did get all the info I wanted, I just ad to play with the color a bit is all. lol. POPSWhere Does He Get All These Wondeful Steampunk Toys?? I admit to being rather fond (actually, enamored) with the entire Steampunk Genre. I am a fan of many of the stylings that have come from one pop culture type to another... Junk stores are doing booming business these days as people hit them up for old brass fittings, watches, horns and other things to modify and adapt. We went through a similar phase with Star Wars and other Sci-Fi things in the 70a and they returned in the last decade. Super Heroes were big merchandise money makers during the WW II years, the mid 60s, and then again the late 80s with the birth of the Batman craze following the campy antics of the 60s and the dark, Gothic feel of the movie series. Super Heroes came back in a big way with X-Men. This is what I have always heard that popular culture repeats itself every generation or so... Hold on to those Slinkys, Hula Hoops, and Slip n' Slide: we may be in for a wild ride again!

POPS13 Things You Won't Believe Are Against the Law Somewhere Pt 1 I keep trying to limit myself and curb my tendency to do multi-part clips... well, I failed again. Another great posting on Cracked.Com and yes these laws are true! If it was not so damned funny I'd just clip the pictures and the titles. WARNING: NSFW AND MATURE RATING DUE TO ORIGINAL ARTICLE'S ADULT LANGUAGE

POPSBrian Dettmer: Book Autopsies Finding this site was sheer chance. I tried to get as much of his artwork from the two main sites as I could and I think we have a very nice presentation of his work. More personal details of the artist and how he does such beautiful work are at the end of the clip... Enjoy. I did.

POPSDynamic Optical Illusions WOW!!! This is a great site with optical illusions that will make you doubt your own eyes... and all these came from the free page. The "more complex" illusions are advertised beyond a $3 Paypal donation... I liked this well enough to just imagine what was behind the Money Door!

POPSThe Thing in a Jar!!! This is right up my alley. When I worked in FX, we'd make "things" all the time. Usually we would put it in a place where our poor victim would either have it touch him or confront him in an unexpected manner. I want to point out that NO ONE was ever hurt by these pranks, at least, NOT the pranks I was in on. Safety is extremely important as well as knowing when the Mark has had enough and knowing not to take a prank farther than a certain limit. I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO PULL ANY MALICIOUS PRANKS AND NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!

POPSCrystal skulls in British, US Museums Are Fakes Indiana Jones would have probably taken as a fool by these as the British Museum Skull was bought 127 years ago and the Smithsonian was bought in 1960. If some of the best scientists, archaeologists, and anthropologists were fooled by the fakes, could have anyone ever have accidentally discovered the deception with only a cursory look? The Legend of the Crystal Skulls and their curse (or blessing - see story) have circulated for decades... nothing like true modern technology and skepticism to ruin a great myth of the paranormal!

POPSLord's Prayer on the Head of a Pin x 7 I remember reading this in a Ripley's Believe It Or Not paperback years ago... I still find it amazing and to think of what fine control and ability the man had and he went blind from doing it! That is dedication!

POPS24 Unforgettable Advertisements Just another set of weirdness that we human beings do to get attention. Marked Mature for the PETA ad as I will err on the side of caution... The Giant Prop ads remind me of the old TV shows and the movies of the 30s and 40s where they were very common... My favorite? The Mini Cooper ad... Priceless!

POPSLearning about Forensics Part II OK, one more to go.. This focuses on the sub-depts of a CSI Lab. THE LINKS (I will check to make sure each is good before posting it is in Part III.

POPSLearning about Forensics Part I Elyse's Site is a good general review of forensics and the application of the science in all it's myriad forms. This part was clipped as a basic primer on the different branches. Part II (Yes, another Multi-part Clip!) will focus on the different applications of the science and some very good links to high-end Forensic sites. The Site owner definitely loves CSI and you will see that if you go there...

POPSExtraterrestrial Particle Accelerator I recently read an excellent book titled "Decipher," about a diverse group of people trying to save the Earth. A linguist that specialized in dead languages like Chaldean and Sumerian... A CIA remote viewer.. A Construction Engineer for a Oil Company... An Archaeologist.. A Quantum Scientist/Mathematician focused on Chaos Theory... A Crack team of Marines with the ever noble squared-jaw leader. Their goal was to decipher a base 60 language that ad been left imprinted on crystal matrices tens of thousands years old with a carbon-60 elemental make up.. Read it if you can find it, it is amazing. The Particle Accelerator here was featured in that book and the Physicist was spouting off about these theories of mini-black holes and space/time distortion. Thus article goes one better as it alleges that the Collider is the only NON-TOP SECRET unit being used and many more exist...

POPSArthur C. Clarke's Alien Monolith I do not claim the veracity of this story... I always repeat my Mantra: "I am a Collector of Curiosities..." Well, this struck me as few things could as definitively Curious. If anyone has seen hard evidence (like NASA site photos) then let me know right now I will say it is interesting..

POPSRue Morgue: Horror Writer's Dream Rue Morgue is the last magazine that is in hard copy being printed today in the US. Their e-zine sight is ok but it holds nothing to the mag itself. To get your short fiction published here as a horror writer is a very wonderful occasion... One I hope to jave again one day!

POPSWhat is Globalization?
I LOVE CONSPIRACY THEORY! Sometimes it does not have to make sense if it just has some connections - George Bush joins the Trilateral Commission (a brainchild of fellow Bonesman, David Rockerfeller ) in 1991. On SEPTEMBER 11, 1991, he makes his infamous New World Order speech... which espouses both the Trilateral Commission Globalization Policy and the Skull & Bones Society's tradition of members all being from rich families and seek to control economics as well as Political Policy and keeping power in the hands of a select few that follow their plans or are architects of it, of a "New World Order;" a world where the few who maintain power make policy for years to come and ONLY they do. NOW, 10 years to the day later, George W. Bush reads a book to school children as the hijacked passenger jets take down the WTC, tear into the Pentagon, and crash in a field due to brave passengers fighting back. Has anyone made THAT connection other than me? Coincidence or conspiracy? I Love Paranoia!

POPSSo, you want to be a Werewolf? Part V I added some of the beautiful Artwork from the site to fill out this smaller section. Yes I know I am always doing multi-part clips but I think this is worth it! :) :D :)

POPSSo, you want to be a Werewolf? Part IV
The Native American culture looked upon the wolf as a beneficial spirit that was ferocious and unyielding, but loyal to its pack. Wolf Societies dominated the Plains Tribes and many warriors were guided by the Guardian Spirit of the Wolf. The Belt is a lesser known facilitator of the Change but it was a more permanent type also. Some famous trials of the 14th century actually have the suspected shapeshifter, usually a drunk or a mentally damaged person, claiming the privilege of wearing the Belt at that time! When the court would usually demand to see the belt it was , of course, invisible and that proved they were a werewolf or it WOULD BE VISIBLE! One young man actually claimed that the fur was on the inside of his skin and therefore hidden until the Change was due. This poor fool was drawn and quartered to see if they could find the skin! What do you say then? Well the Devil took back the skin so no one could see it! Inquisitions - lucrative work if you can get one started!
