POPSThis Explains Some of the Bad Driving It's actually hard to believe that there aren't already restrictions on the number of times a person can take and fail the tests at DMV. It does help me to understand why some many of the drivers out there can't seem to follow the basic rules of the road, however. Is it too much to hope for that this will pass both houses and make it into law?

POPSGore: Tax Pollution, not Employment Let me start by saying that I am not an economist, so I can't even begin to tell whether this is feasible or not. To me, though, this is a singularly interesting idea. What would be the effect of eliminating income tax and instituting a pollution tax?

POPSE-mail is dying Great article in Slate on the decline of e-mail, primarily from younger users. I can certainly see the day when e-mail is used for work only - the place where you need to archive decisions and thought processes for future reference and communication with friends and family will tend towards these newer broadcast methods.

POPSFItzgerald As Next AG? Opinion expressed in Washington Post blog for Fitzgerald to replace Gonzales as the Attorney General of the United States. Interesting piece for those who choose to wade through it all...

POPSEconomic Flexibility vs Family Values This is a very opinionated article, but I think it at least raises an interesting question about whether the economic and social ideals of the Republican party are at odds with each other.

POPSHow to Become President with Clipmarks You heard it here first. In 2008, you just won't get elected without reaching out to the coveted Clipmarks community. And you can bet we'll be checking candidates' sign-up dates. :) The publicity for Clipmarks 2.0 rolls on....

POPSMichael Richards with Rev. Jesse Jackson I don't know... I find a lot of what Michael Richards has said difficult to believe. He's not racist, but when hurt and looking to strike out, he goes for racial slurs AFTER bringing up the painful history of lynchings? He's never used such language before, but it just rolled of his tongue when they hurt him with their heckling? No one can really know if Richards is really racist or not, other than him. But actions taken in rage when your mind switched off cna be very telling about people in general.

POPSI Need Some Talking Shoes ... and a desire to start running again. This does seem like a pretty cool way to fuse standard sneakers and technology (and demand higher prices).

POPSEx-Wife Stole Childrens' Identities Scary what some people will do. The whole article focuses more on the fact that people who discover who stole their identity find out over half the time that it was a family member, friend, neighbor, or in-home worker.

POPSRNC Looking to Steele as Chair I'm so fascinated by this story, especially after having to suffer through the incredibly bitter campaign between Steele and Cardin. Rumors started right after his loss. They were put down a little in some articles. Now they come back with force. Got to love the ride.

POPSSteele as RNC Chair Idle speculation, but this would be interesting... I wonder if all the negative campaigning would hurt his chances, though I did hear a lot of commentary about how strong a campaign he ran. This would also be interesting as he very publicly distanced himself from Bush several times during his race. Should be fun to monitor.

POPSDemocrats to be Moderate? Would that this would come true! I just cant see any party actually governing from the center, even if it had to go there to win the elections. How great could it be for our nation, though, if Congress had a centrist view and didn't play up to one extreme or the other. I can dream until the new Congress sits in January...

POPSObama Walks Ethical Tightrope The article is pretty much just the facts and Obama's statement. It's not clear if anyone is accusing him of ethical misconduct or if there's any evidence that something improper was done. To me, it's just one of those things that you here and wonder why the person was oblivious to the possible perception of their behavior. Sounded like a good statement and apology from Obama. Hope he thinks things through a little better in the future.
