POPSUS Asks Germany To Join in Bailout
Nein, say the wise Germans. Still, the financial crisis has already reached German shores, and banks here have had to announce write-downs of nearly €40 billion ($58.5 billion). "German banks are already sufficiently involved in the calamity," says Stefan Kooths of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin. Either way, experts estimate that half of America's bad loans were sold abroad -- and a large part of that was assumed by Germans. And now the money is gone. "There's no reason why Germany should have to bear even more burdens," says Kooths. Experts have also criticized the American rescue package for a number of other reasons. Diemo Dietrich from the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) doesn't think the plan is well-balanced: "The government is only buying bad risks and, in doing so, nationalizing the losses." Dietrich adds that taxpayers won't share in any of the profits that the government hopes the stabilized market will bring about in the long ru

POPS US Slips Down Development Index Among other findings: * Of the world's richest nations, the US has the most children (15%) living in poverty * Of the OECD nations, the US has the most people in prison - as a percentage and in absolute numbers * 25% of 15-year-old students performed at or below the lowest level in an international maths test - worse than Canada, France, Germany and Japan * If the US infant mortality rate were equal to first-ranked Sweden, more than 20,000 babies would survive beyond their first year of life It also provides a snapshot of the inequalities between the richest and the poorest Americans and between different ethnic groups. "The Measure of America reveals huge gaps among some groups in our country to access opportunity and reach their potential," said the report's author, Sarah Burd-Sharps. "Some Americans are living anywhere from 30 to 50 years behind others when it comes to issues we all care about: health, education and standard of living.

POPSIt's The Neoconomy, Dammit! In other words, the few enjoy a rich lifestyle while the many share subpar incomes and poverty. Another characteristic of Third World countries is that a major portion of their fiscal expenditures is allocated to the military. In many Third World countries, the military is controlled by an elite or a small collection of the wealthy. Finally, in many Third World countries one finds that leadership is passed from one generation to the next, often via a close relative. Guess what country we are talking about now? Be thoughtful when casting your ballots! Only one candidate has a clear grasp of what needs to be done to return us to a sound economy, and they are being pushed aside by the elitist CFR members (both Dem and Rep) who will further our push into third world economy and dictator style governing.

POPSForeign Policy for America SOLUTIONS? Yes, there are. Like the Founding Fathers, Libertarians know that war is the first resort of political scoundrels, but the last resort of a free people. Libertarians know that government's role isn't to police the world — or even to win wars. Government's role is to keep us out of wars — and to protect us from foreign enemies, not create them. How would a Libertarian government assure our safety? Our foreign policy would be simple: We are always ready to defend ourselves, but we threaten no one.

POPSGlobal Warming-Hype or HAARP? As the U.S. and former Soviet Union spent trillions of dollars on their militaries, their commitment to mutually assured destruction led to extensive experimentation with the use of weather as a weapon. In 1977, the Saturday Review cited a CIA report hinting that the U.S. government already had the power to massively manipulate the weather for war purposes. As the Soviet Union disintegrated, a 1993 Isvestia article suggested the U.S. might want to partner with the Russians in peddling their top-secret technology to the world. Oleg Klugin, a high-ranking KGB officer, bragged of his involvement in geophysical weapons research to a London newspaper. The grid patterns of jet chemtrails now spotted throughout the Western world are likely the application of these technologies to new military and civilian uses.

POPSCan Nanotech Save the World? I admit, I have invested in nanotech companies, but that is not the reason I clipped this, if it were, I would not tell you that. The incredible potential benefits of this technology are remarkable, from safe drinking water in countries that are suffering, to medical and scientific advances that are beneficial to all mankind. The possibilities are seemingly endless!

POPS The Dumbing Down Of The American Mind Part 1 Consequently, as a result of so many things having gone wrong in our nation, our mind, the way that we as Americans think, has become so terribly dumbed-down that we are on the verge of losing nearly everything we have attained over the many years since we became a nation. I have no doubt that pride always cometh before the fall, and given such an arrogant degree of ignorance that has seemingly befallen so many in our country, it is high time that we, as a nation, come to our senses before it is too late or the imperialistic desires of the Bush-Cheney administration will utilize every bit of "our collective dumbness" to take our country to a place that we dare not go... that of a long-standing imperial desire to conquer the world with the unfortunate likelihood of ending up in a world war... something that no sane human being should want regardless of how dumb they just might be!
