I'm in love with the planet I'm standing on I can't stop. I can't stop thinking of All the people I've ever loved All the people I have lost All the people I'll never know All the feelings I've never shown The world's too big and life's too short The world's too big and life's too short The world's too big and life's too short To be alone ... to be alone "If you can't change the world change yourself And if you can't change yourself ... Then change the world"

Everywhere you look, big events are occurring in the global economy. Last week, the United Nations said that the dollar’s unique role as a global currency was at an end. Although China, Brazil, Russia and India have all called for a new economic system not based on the dollar, this is the first time that a multinational institution has suggested scrapping the greenback. Also last week, the U.S. administration was forced to ask Congress to raise the debt ceiling again—this time to over $12 trillion—a level that will be breached by October. On Friday, three more banks failed in the U.S., bringing the total to 92 this year. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. recently increased the number of problem banks on its watch list to 400—up from around 300 during the first quarter of the year. In Britain, last week, the World Economic Forum listed Britain’s economy as less stable than Peru’s. The world is awaking to the possibility that America and Britain face real collapse.

UN Says New Global Currency Is Needed
    sahara
    by sahara  9-23-2009
The 45-year-old UN group, run by former World Trade Organization chief Supachai Panitchpakdi, “promotes integration of developing countries in the world economy,” according to its Web site. Emerging-market nations should consider restricting capital mobility until a new system is in place, the group said. The world body began issuing warnings in 2006 about financial imbalances leading to a global recession.

U.S.bank CEO Pay Dwarfs Rest of World
    sahara
    by sahara  9-23-2009
"The U.S. executive pay levels have always dwarfed pay for companies elsewhere in the world," said Sarah Anderson, a fellow with the Institute for Policy Studies, which is critical of Wall Street, and co-author of the recent study "America's Bailout Barons." "They have claimed it is impossible to recruit people without paying such compensation. Yet, if you look at the pay levels in Europe and in a lot of Asian countries, somehow they manage to find people who can run major global firms while making a fraction of what they make in the U.S.," she said. "These kinds of figures undercut the main argument by the U.S. financial industry lobby that they will lose top talent to competitors in Europe or Asia," Anderson said.

Around The World Newspapers Say So Long To Bush
    sahara
    by sahara  1-19-2009    1
“A web of manipulation has cost America $900 billion and the lives of 4,000 soldiers — along with at least 500,000 Iraqis.” Perhaps the most original, however, was Pan-Arab al-Hayat newspaper, which “recalled his controversial election win in Florida and how he once nearly choked on a pretzel, watching television.” “Perhaps we could say that fate, which let the American people down first in Florida and then with the issue of the pretzel in the president’s throat, ultimately helped them by making sure the president would spend half his time on vacation,” wrote the paper’s editorial writers. “Indeed, he would have caused twice the damage if he had been more active and focused.” Not everyone wrote badly of Bush. Most complementary, according to Reuters, was the Jerusalem Post, which remarked that Bush had been the best friend to Israel in 60 years.

    It's The Neoconomy, Dammit!
    sahara
    by sahara  1-14-2008
In other words, the few enjoy a rich lifestyle while the many share subpar incomes and poverty. Another characteristic of Third World countries is that a major portion of their fiscal expenditures is allocated to the military. In many Third World countries, the military is controlled by an elite or a small collection of the wealthy. Finally, in many Third World countries one finds that leadership is passed from one generation to the next, often via a close relative. Guess what country we are talking about now? Be thoughtful when casting your ballots! Only one candidate has a clear grasp of what needs to be done to return us to a sound economy, and they are being pushed aside by the elitist CFR members (both Dem and Rep) who will further our push into third world economy and dictator style governing.

The Dumbing Down Of The American Mind Part 1
    sahara
    by sahara  10-5-2007
Consequently, as a result of so many things having gone wrong in our nation, our mind, the way that we as Americans think, has become so terribly dumbed-down that we are on the verge of losing nearly everything we have attained over the many years since we became a nation. I have no doubt that pride always cometh before the fall, and given such an arrogant degree of ignorance that has seemingly befallen so many in our country, it is high time that we, as a nation, come to our senses before it is too late or the imperialistic desires of the Bush-Cheney administration will utilize every bit of "our collective dumbness" to take our country to a place that we dare not go... that of a long-standing imperial desire to conquer the world with the unfortunate likelihood of ending up in a world war... something that no sane human being should want regardless of how dumb they just might be!
