Last Chance to see LARA bat

Another legend leaves us. This time Brian Charles Lara, greatest batsman of the modern era is is bidding adieu. I cannot imagine that this guy won't stand again against Australians, the rivalry we have loved for so many years. He is the guy who loved pressure and so many times like Steve Waugh, fought lone battles for West Indies. But above of all, he was such a great joy to watch. Thank you Brian Lara for being such a great great Player.

The show goes on - First hat-trick of the world cup

    by techmine  3-28-2007
Even without highly rated Asian teams like Pakistan and India, the World Cup is still a great tournament to watch. Just now I witnessed an almost disaster for South Africa. They lost 4 wickets in 4 balls which includes a hat-trick by Malinga. All the tension came to an end when number 10 batsman miscued a shot for a 4 and helped SA to win the match. Now that is why Mr. Smith, we call you guys - chokers. You almost did!

Irish forced a tie on Zimbabwe

This is the first real shocker in the world cup. Zimbabwe could not score a single of the last ball. This was a real dent on Zimbabwe's image who once defeated India in 1999 World cup. But this zimbabwe team is nothing compared to the team in 1999. I can't forget Flower brothers, Heath streak and company. I think Irish team has a good future with the way they have played and specially when they have such great fans.

    Aussies crushed Scotland

As expected Australia managed an easy win over Scotland. Ponting scored his 4th WC century and was the backbone of the innings. Hussey's form is a little bit of concern but I am sure he will defy all the odds. McGrath as always so effective and dangerous. I am going to track his wicket tally.

    Two Dwayne's enough for Pakistan

Good match to begin with. West Indies somewhat showed that they have home advantage. Bowling magnificantly to defend a meager total of 241. Highlight of the match was the performances from Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Smith. Both of them shared 6 wickets and quick fire 40 odd runs to give that little edge over Pakistan. Pakistan on the other hand played over cautiously and in the end had to chase with a huge asking rate. Parternership between Inzy and Yousouf proved wa waste. Well they have a lot to think about but they are certain to reach round 2 where actually things get hot. The match however proved great to the local crowd. Its always good for the tournament if the local team advances.

    Shocker for NewZealand
    techmine
    by techmine  3-7-2007    2
This is really a shocker for New Zealand. They are one of the teams in my list of title contenders. NZ can stay focused by considering this to be just a warm up match but they are early alarm bells. In a way, push like this at an early stage of the tournament is good to motivate the team. Same thing happened to India in the last world cup but they reached the finals in the end. Mind you, bangladesh is in hands of a very gritty aussie coach, dave watmore. He led SL to a WC victory and is a great tactician. Bangladesh may well be the dark horse of WC'2007. We will wait and see. Boy this world cup is already steaming hot!!

Big Blow to Pakistan WC campaign.

This is a big blow to Pakistan. Razzaq is undoubtedly the best allrounder Pakistan has. The team has some real issues now. With doping controversy already gripping the team, this one is a disaster.
