POPSTo Newt Gingrich & All Idiots Who Make Light Of Poverty
A chilling tale based on a true story. The misery and disadvantages of poverty can make living so unbearable that people will sometimes do the unthinkable. Poverty is a bitter reality that mankind has lived with since the time he became a conscience being. How dare they, who haven't a clue as to the suffering this economic condition causes, make light and sarcastic judgments upon. The below link is one of the saddest results of being too poor. Let's see Newt Gingrich and the rest of the heartless idiots make light of this tragedy. http://news.yahoo.com/2nd-child-shot-mom-texas-welfare-office-dies-033254062.html I wish the hell Newt Gingrich would read this Stephen King's short story and breathe in some of the foul air of poverty. But he knows the stink; he's just playing the game that Republicans like to play. Feed them (their R disciples) what they want to hear and they will follow you as if you were a god. Now that's one big STINK for sure.

POPSWant a Real Economic Stimulus and Job Plan?
The Student Loan Debacle is so outrageous it’s beyond words but I will try to conjure up a few to relieve the pressure that has built up in my brain over the lack of common sense concerning these loans. First of all, using the tool called 'common sense' (which Republicans seem to lack) to illustrate: When an economy makes education very expensive and out of reach for most of its citizens 'the powers that be' conjure up a remedy (bandaid) to allow students to take out exorbitant loans (government backed of course) and the only collateral needed is a promise of a career upon graduation for payback, which… MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! These loans in essence tell the borrower that PIE IN THE SKY awaits them and it doesn’t matter how large a loan they make because an affluent job $$$$ will be their reward at the end and they will be able to pay the loan back in no time at all. Say what? Of course the loan industry doesn’t seem to worry MORE: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/studentloans.html

POPSIs OWS Getting Stuck In The Corporatist GOP's Craw?
It’s starting, the GOP, along with their (collective corporations) counterparts is getting a little nervous. “OWS” is making the little darlings skittish and this in turn is starting some exorcist head spins. This could be a good sign or a bad one; bad because they have the loot to pull out all stops that possibly can drown out the voices of the 99%. Look out “Occupy”, masses are not suppose to unite and agree that something is wrong with a system that makes the upper-class richer and the middle-class slip, slip slipping away to a lower income rung on ye old ladder of success, bringing each downward slide a little less chance for opportunity. Ignorance is bliss to a corporatist nation that needs a misinformed, unaware and unknowing populous to feed their greed. They have to keep creating a steady stream of unintelligent dribble to keep the hoi polloi spiritless and asunder,(Fox News comes to mind) so they can go through their lives without questioning why they keep climbing

POPSThe NY Gangbusters (1%-ers) Order Police (99%-ers) To Annihilate The 'Occupy' Camp - 11/14/2011 The Powers That Be, (The One Percenters) are still ordering the breakup of the Occupy Movement under the guise of health concerns. It's funny the only health problems I've seen so far has been police mace/pepper spraying victims while punching others in the face or hitting them over the head with batons, or just having good old fashion fun picking out faces in the crowd, who are standing peaceably, to shoot a teargas projectile, point-blank at. 1%-ers motto: "THE MASSES MUST BE HERDED AND CONTAINED FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!" thinkingblue

POPSThe Question Is Not 'WHO IS MAD' It's 'WHO IS NOT MAD?' (Pakistan) We Americans for the most part cannot understand what is might be like to live in a world dominated by total insanity. Oh, we have our share of craziness unfolding before our very eyes, just watch the rhetoric and gestures coming from Backmann, Perry, Cain and too many other delusional right-wing demagogues. And when I hear some of the statements made by so called pundits from the far right like, Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter… (Again) too many other delusional small minded conservatives, I want to shout "How and When Did This Ship I'm Sailing On, Land In ‘La La Land’?”… But then I realize I didn't leave reality THEY DID! Anyhow, I came upon this article from The Atlantic Magazine and thought it worthy of a few minutes of our time on Earth. It's today's nourishment for the brain. thinkingblue

POPSAn American War Veteran on Veterans' day 11.11.11 This is a picture from a facebook member on Veterans' Day 11.11.11 It says a lot about our country, don't you think? Dan Kenney - Facebook Based on various estimates, 500,000 to 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year. It is also estimated by the VA that a veteran dies by suicide every 80 minutes. And nearly 20% of the returning forces from Afghanistan and Iraq suffer from either PTSD or major depression. This Veterans' Day four or five veterans will commit suicide. The price of war continues throughout the life of a veteran. Today reach out a hand to a vet.

POPSWhat Makes People Vote Against Their Own Best Interests? This is an excellent read. Most of us liberals have been perplexed as to why any working class stiff (especially those in the lower income brackets) would vote against his/her own best interest and vote for corporate and wealthy interests instead. I am so glad to read that there are those in the field of psychology who are also perplexed enough to research this phenomenon and try making sense as to the WHY people willingly hurt themselves and their families in this political conundrum? Perhaps armed with some answers to this riddle, those who vote against their interests will be able to open their eyes and realize, they are doing themselves in little by little, republican by republican. There I go again DREAMING… thinkingblue

POPSA Very Scary Halloween 2011 I wanted to blog something REALLY scary and frightening this year for Halloween. I thought of the usual icons of Halloween: Frankenstein, Ghosts, or perhaps Freddie Cruger of ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ fame but when I saw the article 'Various '7 billionth' babies celebrated worldwide' I thought... 'THERE AIN'T NUTTIN SCARIER THAN THAT"! Please read the article, it's a real eye-opener and should awake every one of us to the realization that something has to be done about this fiasco and FAST! The pain and anguish that awaits our kind will be of epic proportions, in the not so distant future.

POPSOccupy Wall Street - We Shall Overcome
The peaceful movement called, ‘Occupy Wall Street’ is continuing, in spite of efforts by those who are supposed to respect the constitutional rights of the people, to end it. Rights we all share (including the police). Police brutality has become the headline of the day. It's initiated by those who wish to control and extinguish the light illuminating from a movement that has long been in hibernation. Too many Americans have felt isolated, alone in their suffering, not realizing that suffering has become a part of everyday life for countless others. The middleclass in America is disappearing and is being replaced by indentured servants, indebted slaves to a wealthy corporate ruling class. There really is strength in number and it is time for that strength to show itself and be silent no more to the corporate 1% who rule over us like gods and kings. Their weapon is money; our weapon is a voice that cries out in unison that we have had enough. thinkingblue

POPSBLACK TIE AND BODY BAGS - Iraq War http://www.thethinkingblue.com/connection/blacktiebodybags.html This is a bittersweet time, the troops in Iraq are finally coming home but we all can't help but feel the sorrow about a war that never should have been. It made me think of an essay written in 2005 when Bush&co were getting ready for their second Inaugural Ball while body bags were returning home from Iraq. I found the page and updated it for both a pleasant (The Troops Are Coming Home) and painful (or regretful) memory.

POPSIf Republican Corporatists Had Their Way... This is what Middle Class America Would Look Like. http://www.thethinkingblue.com/nkorea.jpg It's hard to understand why Republicans are so cruel and hateful towards low income people. What is even more perplexing is that they now are going after middle income people and still NO ONE OBJECTS. That was yesterday, this is today. At last we the 99% who also reside in this land of opportunity (but only for the rich) are speaking out. Perhaps, what the GOP Corporatists had been getting away with for too many years will finally STOP, and they will be forced to look into the faces of we-the-people who they’ve tried to marginalize as inferior but necessary evils. POPSHUMAN VS. PERSON The House of Representatives voted to let women die by passing a bill that would make it legal for hospitals to refuse to perform a life-saving abortion on a woman as an emergency procedure. This is so outrageous I want to shout... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! This religious based belief that women should not be allowed to choose what is best for their individual life and BODY is, to put it lightly REPULSIVE, to put it seriously heinous and horrifying! Just because so many poor souls live in a supernatural world of mythology and superstition should not mean that laws should be enacted to force all of us to live in such a medieval world. This barbaric law of forcing physicians to stand by and witness the death of a woman (a human being) because some cruel law was enacted (by silly frightened people) preventing them from carrying out their Hippocratic Oath is not in reality and is SACRILEGIOUS. (PUT THAT IN YOUR CLERICAL HAT AND SMOKE IT!)

POPSOccupy Wall Street - Week Four - The Intellectuals Weigh In I don’t know where this movement is heading but one thing is for sure, people really are beginning to comprehend the fact that we the 99% are the losers in this game the rich and powerful play. There may not be a great deal, we can do at present to induce the drastic changes needed but something is bound to happen in the future with so much awareness spreading like wildfire. One can only hope that our society will start to turn around for the better real soon because there absolutely is… no turning back! Please watch the video I’ve put together featuring several different opinions from some very wise folks who possess a keen insight as to where this newly hatched movement is directed. thinkingblue

POPSMy Tehran For Sale - A Land Without Democracy
We all know of the horrors that are faced everyday by ordinary citizens of Iran, especially if you happen to be born a FEMALE. We, in America, live in a somewhat free society so hearing such tyranny that people from totalitarian regimes must face is quite chilling and shocking to us. It’s hard to believe that there are human beings who live on this planet and they are not allowed to think, talk, move or make facial expressions without committing a crime of some sort. That’s not living, that’s not even existing, what it is or what it resembles is the theological interpretation of HELL. I firmly believe that there are those in this USA who would impose such an ignorant, backward tenent upon we-the-people here in the states if they could and that is pretty damn scary. If you think that statement farfetched and over the top just turn your head to the right and look at what the GOP Tea Party is doing to gut the middleclass of our society. At last we, the ones who are suffering the most, finally have a voice. For too long we have been the silent majority, feeling the pain inflicted upon us by the 1% with all the power, who feel no empathy towards we, the 99% proletariat. There were times when we 99’ers had some government on our side but today that is no longer true; money talks and money silences, a sad but true fact. POPS Occupy Wall Street - This Is Not Your Everyday Ordinary Protest. It's Demcracy Fighting For Its Life!
Excerpted from Thom Hartmann's Screwed; The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class. The most ancient form of democracy is found among virtually all indigenous peoples of the world. It's the way humans have lived for more than 150,000 years. There are no rich and no poor among most tribal people--everybody is "middle class." There is also little hierarchy. The concept of "chief" is one that Europeans brought with them to America--which in large part is what produced so much confusion in the 1600s and 1700s in America as most Native American tribes would never delegate absolute authority to any one person to sign a treaty. Instead decisions were made by consensus in these most ancient cauldrons of democracy. The Founders of this nation, and the Framers of our Constitution, were heavily influenced and inspired by the democracy they saw all around them. Much of the U.S. Constitution is based on the Iroquois Confederacy http://www.thethinkingblue.com/occupywallstreet.html

POPSSTATE SANCTIONED MURDER or for those with weak stomachs THE DEATH PENALTY
I can remember the exact day that I gave this LAW a bit more thought than “WELL THEY DESERVE DEATH, DON’T THEY, AFTER WHAT THEY’VE DONE?” I was sitting in a Unitarian Church when the minister said, “Now, let us think about the Death Penalty and why it is wrong for states to legally murder their citizens because no matter how they phrase it, The Death Penalty is MURDER.” Wow, I thought to myself, that’s a different way to look at it. After that I couldn’t stop thinking about this topic. I did a little research on the subject (it was the 70’s when Personal Computers and Google were not part of everyday ‘take for granted’ living) and I physically had to go to the library or buy magazines and newspapers that featured any article referring to this law. During this thumbnail investigation, I found out some startling facts that not only did I not know but I would estimate a guess, hardly anyone knew who supported Capital Punishment., http://www.thethinkingblue.com/statesanctionmurder.html

Troy Davis was executed last night and I'll bet those who believe they'll benefit by the decision to execute (i.e. SCOTUS, Rick Perry, Nathan Deal and the rest of the cutthroats who support the DEATH PENALTY) are dancing in the streets... I hope there will be justice for Troy Davis and that he did not die in vain. Perhaps, this will be the beginning of the end for this savage law. POPS9/11The Years of Shame - How the truth hurts those who wish it to stay hidden by their lies. Paul Krugman is a brave hero for exposing the shame so many of us felt during the past ten years:--- The disgrace is the responsibility of such “fake heroes” as former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and President George W. Bush, darlings of the Republican Party who “ in on the horror” for personal and political gain and drove the country apart, (Krugman) writes. As Krugman has said elsewhere, the truth is often shrill. —ARK The Huffington Post: Paul Krugman drew conservative outrage on Sunday when he wrote that the anniversary of 9/11 had become a marker of “shame” for the U.S. http://www.thethinkingblue.com/911shame.html

POPSRon Paul's Libertarian Mantra "I'm Not My Brother's Keeper"
I have to ask… WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE? How can they close their eyes to the obscene suffering so many of our fellow human beings are subjected to? The abject poverty, birth defects, diseases, old age, orphaned, abandoned or abused children that are readily all around for them to see. How in the world can they rationalize the plights of just being born human? It appears (to me anyhow) that they want the human race to topple from it ivory tower at the top of the food-chain and assimilate back into the lower part of this harrowing chain where it’s Survival Of The Fittest all the way. Below is a quote from our president that sums it all up so eloquently: “If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for their prescription, who has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer.http://www.thethinkingblue.com/ronpaulletemdie.html

POPS A Startling Reality There is an overabundance of gloomy news in the world these days and because of this, we have all gotten a bit desensitized. You open news links and you get lingering deadly effects of two US wars that go on and on with no end in sight or even WTF the true objective of these wars were to begin with. Then another headline will read “Drought and Famine in Somalia Have Killed More Than 29000 Children Under the Age of 5” with pictures of emaciated little bodies that hardly resemble human forms. Another click advances you to captions like: “The World Is Watching the Carnage In Syria… Click for video” and back home we get: “Wall Street Banks Still Gouging U.S. Citizens After Bailouts", with no mention on how they can be stopped or if they will ever receive punishment for their crimes of greed. POPSThe Norway Massacre - A Search For Logic Within An Illogical Event
The Face Of A Psychopath HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? WHAT POSSESSED THAT PERSON TO DO SUCH A HORRIBLE THING? There are those who will look to their religion for answers... It was the Devil who did it. Lucifer road roughshod over victims on that day. This good vs. evil response never sat right with me. It simply is too easy. These sad events perpetrated by human minds are very complex because 'THE WHY' may exist within the cells of the brain. Human brains are so complicated I am not sure if we will ever fully understand the complete workings of it. I'm glad David Eagleman doesn't feel that way, he just had his book published called: 'Incognito' (click to listen to interview on NPR): What's Hiding In The Unconscious Mind. He tries to explain (objectively) how the brain operates. It’s an interesting read that perhaps will help shed some light on 'THE WHY' of the Norway massacre.
