More Big Pharma, Bad Science - Non-smoking Drug

Now, which is worse in your opinion... Smoking or Suicide? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Most would answer ...I THINK I WOULD RATHER SMOKE THAN FOR SURE KILL MYSELF BY TAKING A DRUG TO NOT SMOKE. The saddest part of this is that they (BIG PHARMA) are using our veterans as Guinea pigs in their trial and error tests. Just so they can put on the market more deadly drugs and coerce, we the public to buy into their schemes that make them rich! The Infamous Bail-out Of Fannie and Freddie

The R Party has contended for 30 years that anything appearing to slant towards socialism is EVIL. Feed a hungry child "NO THAT'S SOCIALISM". Universal Health Care "NO THAT'S SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, I want no part of that". The "R" Party's mantra is a loud MAKE GOV. SO SMALL YOU CAN DROWN IT IN A BATHTUB. But when it comes to Corp. bail-outs, which is another name for Corporate Socialism QUICK PULL THAT GOV-GUY OUT OF THE TUB AND APPLY CPR... It's enough to blow your mind! I've put together some TV clips and article excerpts to illustrate the hypocrisy of our gov. A saga of the U.S. Bail-out of 2 mortgage giants Freddie & Fannie. I guess the SHOW MUST GO ON. Next time you hear an "R" person yodel "IT'S NOT OUR DUTY TO HELP THE POOR", and "WE WON'T STAND FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE". Tell them to think about all the Big Bucks our gov. has spent bailing out the Fat Cats and see if they will then say "Socialism is a dirty word, it's EVIL!". Yeah, right, but only if you're POOR.

Under pressure in 2003 and 2004, the White House agreed to dilute record-keeping proposals by FDA safety experts. "If the FDA had been given the resources and authority years ago that it asked for to solve these kinds of problems, I think we would have solved this already," said W. Hubbard, a former FDA associate commissioner. Tommy Thompson, who was health secretary during the industry's lobbying campaign, acknowledged that a more robust food-tracking system — opposed by business groups as too expensive — could have helped stem the current illnesses More Here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080725/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/salmonella_lobbying --- Hey Folks, we're sitting ducks to Big Business desires... Is Big Pharma Saving The LIves Of The Poor?
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  7-13-2008    1
I have often commented on the greed of Big Pharma. But, came across this article which tells a story of how a Dr. Curtis, an anthropologist , living in African, wanted to save lives by trying to change habits that induce disease to routines of prevention. As in, washing hands after each toilet use. Easier said than done because an often unconscious pattern of behavior acquired through frequent repetition is what makes you, you. So how can an entity go about changing unconscious unhealthy responses into ones that can save lives? Well, by seeking the help of the very industries that have for years spent billions of cash on manipulating the public and convincing them they cannot live without their products, in other words, changing habits. Makes sense, Big Pharma is good at it and perhaps, indirectly, all they have learned to part us from our $$$ can now be of benefit to those who are dying simply because of bad habits.

    Cholesterol's Benefits. Huh???

In these days of drug mania, where pill popping cures anything from a limp male organ to hair loss. Big Pharma is pumping out the pretty colored gems as fast as the doctors can write out their illegible prescriptions. The money pours across the palms of the execs in media to brainwash the gullibles into believing they need at least 50 pills a day to stay alive and active. Case in point, a local doctor who resides in a rural town thinks nothing of threatening a patient with a "IF YOU DON'T TAKE THIS MEDICATION I AM PRESCRIBING, I WILL CALL YOUR INSURER AND TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE DELIBERATELY RISKING YOUR HEALTH AND THEY WILL DROP YOU!" Sounds a bit bizarre doesn't it? Well, it really happened. This particular health care provider, prescribes anti-cholesterol drugs like it's going out of style. No Joke! Now studies are proving that we need some cholesterol in our systems, it's enough to make you want to ban Big Pharma's drugs and all the sycophants who do their bidding.

Take VITAMIN D3, the life you save may be your own.

    by thinkingblue  10-20-2007    1
I have also read, it can help in fighting flu epidemics. The following from this site: www.sunarc.org Vitamin D is also beneficial in reducing the risk of respiratory viral diseases such as influenza, the common cold, and bronchitis. A study in New York State with black women in their 60s found that 800 IU of vitamin D3 per day reduced cold and influenza rates by about 60%, while 2000 IU per day reduced the rates by more than 90%. The RDA (400 IU/day) was based on the amount of vitamin D in a teaspoonful of cod liver oil, which is sufficient to prevent rickets but not much more. The body can make 10,000 IU per day in the summer sun, so there is no problem with taking 2000 IU per day most of the year. There are also benefits of vitamin D in reducing the risk of cancer, autoimmune diseases, and metabolic diseases. I've enjoyed researching vitamin D after retiring from NASA Langely in 2004. RECORD PROFITS FOR HEALTH INSURANCE CO.

    by thinkingblue  10-19-2007
The health Insurance Business (or maybe a better word would be racket) is earning profits that are going through the roof. (According to the New York Times, overall the insurance industry expects to earn about sixty billion dollars in profit. This comes after the insurance industry earned forty-three billion dollars last year in spite of natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.) Hmmmm, I wonder where all these profits are coming from...? You guessed it, right out of our "barely can afford health insurance" pockets. Are you listening Mr. VETO KIDS HEATH INSURANCE, BUSH and your loyalists who helped you maintain your veto, on the Republican side of the isle! I doubt it... Since 2004. he never has nor ever will listen to the masses who put him where he is. He doesn't need them anymore, since he cannot run for re-election, so why should he listen to their pleas.

Well, Mr. President, seems to be standing alone on not wanting children to have health insurance. Almost alone, except for his staunch, true-blue disciples, who take up space, on capital hill. In fact, 159 morally bankrupt Republicans, don't mind turning their backs on the many children who may become very ill or even die because their families won't be able to carry the financial load if something medically serious happens to them. Oh, by the way, funding for the Iraq war could surpass $1 trillion, at a rate of a mere $200,000,000 A DAY! That's OK with Bushie, but allot money to help lower income families have peace of mind and this dullard of a man, we call pres. POUNDS HIS CHEST AND DECLARES HE'LL VETO IT! Sending people's children into an unnecessary war and now giving a thumbs down to bring some daylight into the lives of the financially strapped Americans, makes me wonder. IS MODERN LIFE, ONE BIG SWINDLE?
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  9-1-2007    2
It seems EVERYTHING in our lives spell SWINDLE. From food, to medical care, charities, housing, religion, anything that affects our existence is somehow wrapped or sprinkled with chicanery. I have always believed, when a buck is to be made we all should display caution. Whether it be the tests doctors send you on or the imports coming in from merciless countries, we should all feel apprehension and not just blindly do what the so called benevolent powers tell us to do. In a profit driven society $$$ reins supreme. But it seems of all the ideologies the human race has come up with, capitalism appears to be the only one that can somewhat work with the (although high) lowest of suffering for the people held to such an ideology. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean we should all turn into sheep, following and doing exactly what we are told, without question.      I received a response to one of my clips on BUSH'S IMMORAL PHILOSOPHY, I wanted to share the silliness of the Republican lunacy on this subject to insure every child have access to health care: The reply echoes Bush's blather on the topic by stating: "SCHIP would put children on socialized health insurance even in families making $80-$90,000 per year. This would be somwthing like 80% of all kids in the country. this is a push for fully socialized heath care." MY REPLY: Every time universal healthcare for all is mentioned... The Republicans start shouting LIONS AND TIGERS AND SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, OH MY! Our healthcare system is a sham. I don't care about Canada or Europe's socialized medicine fiascos... I just know our corporate hold on healthcare, does not work for the majority of us. The rich, have no problems, because when they need to tell a doctor to jump... he/she replies HOW HIGH! An Immoral Bush Philosophy... SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  7-30-2007    3
So what kind of philosophy says that it's O.K. to subsidize insurance companies, but not to provide health care to children? Well, here's what Mr. Bush said after explaining that emergency rooms provide all the health care you need: "They're going to increase the number of folks eligible through Schip; some want to lower the age for Medicare. And then all of a sudden, you begin to see a - I wouldn't call it a plot, just a strategy - to get more people to be a part of a federalization of health care." Now, why should Mr. Bush fear that insuring uninsured children would lead to a further "federalization" of health care, even though nothing like that is actually in either the Senate plan or the House plan? It's not because he thinks the plans wouldn't work. It's because he's afraid that they would. That is, he fears that voters, having seen how the government can help children, would ask why it can't do the same for adults. And there you have the core of Mr. Bush'

Since 2001, Steiger has run the Office of Global Health Affairs in the Department of Health and Human Services. Richard H. Carmona, who commissioned the "Call to Action on Global Health" while serving as surgeon general from 2002 to 2006, recently cited its suppression as an example of the Bush administration's frequent efforts during his tenure to give scientific documents a political twist. Steiger said that "political considerations" did not delay the report; "sloppy work, poor analysis, and lack of scientific rigor did." (OF COURSE WE ALL BELIEVE THAT!) Steiger, 37, is godson of former pres George H.W. Bush and son of a Republican who represented Wisconsin in the House WHO hired a young Dick Cheney as an intern... (CRONYISM TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE!)

    TRANS FATS Versus COMMON SENSE
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  7-2-2007
Trans fat is the common name for a type of unsaturated fat with trans isomer fatty acid. Trans fats may be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. Unlike other fats, trans fats are neither required nor beneficial for health. Eating trans fats increases the risk of coronary heart disease. For these reasons, health authorities worldwide recommend that consumption of trans fat be reduced to trace amounts. Trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils are generally considered to be more of a health risk than those occurring naturally. Trans fats are tightly regulated in some countries, must be disclosed on product labels in many others, and are the central issue in several ongoing lawsuits (particularly against fast food outlets). Many companies are voluntarily removing trans fats from their products, or establishing trans-free product lines. From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans_fat

On the second day the knee was better, and on the third day it disappeared completely. She has had no rigors or shaking chills, but her husband states she was very hot in bed last night.
