Girls entering puberty by the age of six - but are drugs the answer?
    michellezm
    by michellezm  8-7-2007    10
"Early puberty has even been linked to watching too much television. A few years ago, Italian scientists found that children who watched three hours a day produced less of the sleep hormone melatonin - low levels of the hormone play an important role in the timing of puberty. But perhaps more worrying is the theory that it's exposure to environmental chemicals which is causing the drop in the age of puberty. These chemicals mimic the effect of hormones, disrupting the normal timing of sexual maturing. Whatever the cause, growing numbers of children are being deprived of childhood and are turning, physically, into mini-adults at an increasingly young age. But without the emotional maturity to deal with these changes, they are vulnerable to exploitation. In Britain, it is now estimated that up to at least one in six children under ten is affected. Indeed, there is a belief that schoolgirls as young as six are entering puberty".

Ha!! This reminds me of War of the Worlds, but I do have a very vivid imagination. *LOL* Is it just me, or does there seem to be a rise in UFO reports as of late? I've read rumours on the net that governments around the world may be getting reading for some grand "disclosure" of some kind and it's claimed esp Mexico are pushing for it. Britain has just released their X-files too and was it France? Russia is opening up too. Anyway... I think it's all pretty funky. My clip prior to this one reports something shiny has been seen crashing in Kazakhstan too and {{kkcapricorn}} has a clip about groups of strange lights being reported over Britain and the US over New Year's. Any connection, I wonder? Where's Mulder when you need him?? :)

How to Lose a War: The American Way
    ratilfar
    by ratilfar  8-9-2007    5
An American military spokesman denied that the request for American forces to leave was ever made, either formally or otherwise, or that they had caused most of the casualties. But the episode underlines differences of opinion among NATO and American military forces in Afghanistan on tactics for fighting Taliban insurgents, and concerns among soldiers about the consequences of the high level of civilians being killed in fighting.

    Ban The Plastic Bag
    thisnamecantbetaken
    by thisnamecantbetaken  6-27-2007    5
Bangladesh slapped an outright ban on all polythene bags in 2002 after they were found to have been the main culprit during the 1988 and 1998 floods that submerged two-thirds of the country. Discarded bags had choked the country's drainage systems. Nylon fishing nets, fishing line, bags, 6-pack rings etc, kill hundreds of thousands of animals every year and will continue to do so for hundreds, if not thousands of years to come. Horrible, panicked and painful deaths by drowning, suffocation or internal damage. If Bangladesh can ban the plastic bag and get by, surely so could we!
