POPSDemystifying "modesty" I have seen most of these on women here in the UAE, I never really thought about there being any difference among them...

POPSInsults: Physical Harm Maybe this is why so few people participate on the web and why that such a relatively large percent that do insult and attack other participants. It is a stress reaction that kicks up a fight-or-flight response. I try to remember most of those doing the insulting are expressing their own background of verbal abuse and fear. Try to let it slide off your back like water on a duck. That's good karma.

POPSWe Deserve to Be Robbed Matt Taibbi's article is absolutely right on the mark. Unfortunately I found it impossible to clip in a way that would bring out the important points he makes to their fullest extent. Please read the entire piece at the link above. It certainly will have you thinking about where the priorities of country are leading us, and make you wonder if we really do not deserve to be ripped off as Matt says.

POPSFamily Life vs Military Life
I thought it was appropriate to clip this as a follow up to another clip I posted. It doesn't matter whether a soldier supports the context of this war. It doesn't matter their reasons for joining or even re-enlisting. What matters is that continual separation from family and loved ones for extended amounts of time, not to mention jobs (for reserve/guard members), is actually putting more strain on the soldiers as they miss out on those things that the average citizen takes for granted such as baby's first word or Junior's first day of school or Junior's high school graduation or even the births of their children. It's a shame that the family value's crowd seems not to care about the families of these soldiers so long as they have the bodies they need to fight these two wars. Rather they would like to beat up on homosexuals and blame them for the breakdown of the traditional family. These days, I'd say that continuous war is doing just what they accuse gay people of doing.

POPSFur for Fashion is Inhumane I've always thought that fur was a tacky clothing accessory. Needless to say I was disgusted when I learned how many animals it required to make a fur coat. There is more information at the site infurmation.com, including some information about dog and cat fur. Do these poor animals a favor. Wear your own skin--not theirs.

POPSAsian Americans Are People, We Get Offended! A list of Asian American terminology, both bad and acceptable ones, as well as a couple of things to keep in mind. I would personally add that you should not immediately come to the conclusion that we are all Chinese, but that's just me.

POPSGiving Up Our Privacy It might all seem to be harmless fun but it doesn't hurt to think about the possible consequences of giving up our privacy.

POPSPink Ribbon Not As Helpful As They Claim? Read the site before coming to conclusions. Most of you are familiar with the pink ribbon that symbolizes breast cancer awareness. This site advises you to do more than just buy an expensive pink ribbon item, or click daily at thebreastcancersite.com. Because while both do claim to help, they do this very minimally. A mammogram identifies breast cancer, but doesn't cure it. And how much is actually given to research when you purchase something?
