POPSHindraf trio, 10 others freed from ISA Damage control after the Ipoh affair? Regardless, this is indeed good news. FYI - the ISA (Internal Security Act) allows for detention without trial for up to 2 years, with renewable 2-year detention orders, indefinitely. It has been a continuing blot on Malaysia's human rights record.

POPSMalaysiakini: Law minister threatens to quit over ISA I've always held Zaid Ibrahim in high regard as a politician. He's in fact a total misfit in contrast to the rest of UMNO. He is definitely a person of high integrity. And he really should just quit if the Government refuses to release Teresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

POPSMalaysiakini: Penang gov't gets more flak over appointments Sometimes complaining is an end in itself... Let's hope that the new state government is allowed the chance to initiate its plans for taking Penang to greater heights at some point. Complaining just for the sake of complaining isn't going to achieve anything, IMHO.

POPSHuman rights and Islam? Protesting that others aren't doing it right like yourself when it comes to religion is common fare. But you have to wonder by what great short circuit of logic did the protest leader (in the third paragraph below) surmised that he and his fellow believers' human rights were being violated by Ahmadiyah "disturbing" their practice of Islam. Was something lost in translation or has the protest leader decided to abandon all logic in his leap into faith?

POPSSyed Hamid: Demonstrations = Violence By some fantastic leap of logic, Malaysia is equated to Pakistan - why we keep benchmarking ourselves to countries that are totally screwed up really boggles the mind...
