Why I use Clipmarks
I maintain a news community on LiveJournal, and this will be a great place to get some really interesting stories. I also find it fascinating what people are obsessing over day by day.

My clips will range from deep to tabloid. It's a crap shoot.

Since I cannot upload from work, I save clips during the day and Email the URLs home. So, you will usually get an end-of-day deluge.

More insanity from Texas which seems to have more than its share. This superstitious stupidity really needs to end. This religious immunity from critical scrutiny has existed for too long. It's time to begin shinning a light on these barbaric practices practiced by this death cult.

" "one is never really angry, about what they think they are"
astare
by astare  6-13-2008
I have found in my life's experience that when I am angry, #1. it is always a bi-product of some deeper emotion, usually sadness, hurt feelings, or some other feeling in which touches our egos, in such a way that it almost hurts to acknowledge them. I have also found that the things that really inflame me/enrage me, always have history, if I just take the time to reflect, the outcome is so much more self-empowering. The reason that these small moments can be so powerful for me, is because I have chosen the path of least resistence, and self-knowledge, as well as acceptance of the smashing of my ego, it can be a hard pill to swallow, but it is the only path for me, I don't know may be it comes from having a self-perpetuated hard life, and getting older, THANK GODDESS for getting OLDER !

The Pagan Christ NT based on Egyption Mythology
photowriter
by photowriter  12-7-2007    7
I grew up as a fundamentalist Xian X= Greek letter chi for Christ. I have read several of Tom Harpers books and have found him to be one of the most honest Anglican Priests I have ever met in book and person. What we find now is that the literal interpretation of the Bible is producing a very dangerous culture, focused in the US where military culture and war are often seen as part and parcel of the religious right's political theology.

Death In The Family
debbyski
by debbyski  12-2-2007    5
"Yet the proposed law in Washington wouldn’t go far enough for Gardner. It wouldn’t include him. Parkinson’s isn’t terminal. The disease can leave the body trembling, contorted, rigid; it can rob the memory and muffle the voice; it can leave a person still and silent; but it doesn’t offer an end to its torture; it doesn’t kill. Gardner wants a law that would permit lethal prescriptions for people whose suffering is unbearable, a standard that can seem no standard at all; a standard that prevails in the Netherlands, the Western nation that has been boldest about legalizing aid in dying; a standard that elevates subjective experience over objective appraisal and that could engage the government and the medical profession in the administration of widespread suicide. What is unbearable? What level of acute or chronic physical pain would qualify? What degree of disability? Would physicians be writing suicide prescriptions for the depressed?"

Religious Privilege
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  10-7-2007    6
Cont. ""When a friend wants me to go out and have a few drinks, but I’m working, I don’t take a few hours off to drink beer; I make a sacrifice." "Is it asking too much to expect religious people to either sacrifice their superstitious rituals or to not commit to things that they can’t actually commit to? When I tell people my opinions on religion, they tell me I should be more tolerant and accepting. If that’s the case, why can’t I get away with the same things religion gets away with? If religious people want me to respect their religion or them, they’ll accept the same standards and rules that I have to accept. So long as people are treated in their own special way because of their ludicrous beliefs, I will oppose religion." Religion and religious apologist are far less tolerant than I am. They readily support particular people getting special treatment that nobody else gets. All I support is equality for everybody and everything."
