"Milkmen: Fathers Who Breastfeed" (not a joke)

This will freak you out. Yes, there are a few documented cases of fathers lactating enough to feed their children. For the record, I haven't tried it, though there have been times when I wished I could.

Paper Cuts -- Clean, Beautiful and Perfect
enSue
by enSue  5-15-2007    1
I discovered these breathtaking paper creations some time ago, but never got around to blogging about such a deserving topic. The web page link laid dormant in my bookmarks until today when I was conducting my regular computer and bookmark cleaning. I've seen this type of artwork in person before, but those pieces (no pun intended) were created from very small sheets of paper that measured approximately 6 x 8 inches. The sculptures featured in this blog entry are simply exquisite. I can not begin to imagine how much tedious planning went into each piece before any cut was made. I am amazed at the perfection of each incision and fold. I wish I had more to say, but I am simply in awe.

Spelling Differences Between British and American English
gingembre
by gingembre  5-12-2007    8
These spelling differences drive me a little crazy at times, having grown up learning American English, reading and hearing British English, and now living in Canada where British English is used. This must be even more of a challenge for those whose first language is not English. I end up using a mixture of the two versions of English, which confuses me (and probably others). Even worse, sometimes I see a word and feel as if I've lost my ability to spell--I really doubt my own memory--when I have always prided myself on my spelling. The word that drove me to find this educational resource delineating the differences in spelling is "jewellery", which I often see advertised in Canada instead of "jewelry", the American version. Was I losing it? Had it always been jewellery, not jewelry, and I had simply forgotten how to spell the word? No, thank goodness. It's just one of the differences between the two versions of English. I hope that this resource helps you as much as it has me.

Japanese company introduces "voter turnout bra"
enbar
by enbar  5-9-2007    1
A Japanese clothing company has created a "concept bra" to encourage Japanese citizens to vote (turnout has been low lately). From the source: . With voter apathy and a general aversion to politics worsening each year, the government has taken a variety of measures to encourage participation in the election process. Taking matters into their own hands, Triumph decided to focus attention on the problem by unveiling the Voter Turnout Lift-UP! Bra along with their fall/winter collection on May 9.
