POPSDon't work all the time. You'll live to regret it. "Because while we think we're planning for the future by being pragmatic, we forget we also want our lives to include lovely, dazzling moments of fun and not just the daily cubicle grind. "When you view your life from a broader lens," Kivetz says, "there's a focus on feeling you'll miss out on the pleasures of life." Kivetz isn't suggesting you stop acting like a reasonable adult. But the next time you're wavering over whether to call in sick and join your friends on their impulsive three-day jaunt to Iceland, try this mind hack: Imagine yourself 10 years from now, looking back on your decision. What choice will make you feel happy then?" Iceland huh? :-) (Do they need an experiment to reach that conclusion? :-p )

POPSWhat I Believe We believe obedience is a fine quality in dogs and young children, but not in adults. Like America's right-wingers, we believe in individual responsibility, hard work to get ahead, and stern punishment for serious crimes. We believe big government should not be blindly trusted. But unlike most right-wing leaders, we mean it. Like America's left-wingers, we believe in equal treatment under law, war as a last (not first) resort, and sensible stewardship of natural resources. We believe big business should not be blindly trusted. But unlike most left-wing leaders, we mean it. Like libertarians, we believe it's wrong and reprehensible to arrest people for what they think, believe, look like, wear, eat, smoke, drink, inhale, inject, or otherwise do to themselves. But unlike many libertarians, we're not obsessed with the gold standard, we don't believe incorporation is humanity's highest achievement, and we don't believe everything in life comes down to dollars and cents

POPSSwiss Company Promises Chocolate Revolution Too Good to Be True? Chocolate That Doesn't Melt and Is Low in Calories "The bar's creators want to use it to tackle a growing problem: In Western Europe and North America, chocolate consumption has leveled off and, in some cases, begun to decline. In the past year, consumers in the eight largest western European countries consumed 2 percent less chocolate. In the US, consumption decreased by 8 percent. Under these circumstances, manufacturers are forced to rely on emerging markets for future profits. The calorie-reduced "Vulcano" will be made available in both bar and cookie form."

POPSWhy some people are blind to abuse More: Please, please don't be any of the above. Become aware. If you can, do something to make yourself more knowledgable of the signs of child abuse. Do a search online. Learn more about how to stop child abuse. Ask a survivor of child abuse what you can do to help them feel valued and safe. Give your child a hug and tell them you love them. Tell them they can come to you to talk about anything.

POPSUK White Supremacist Guilty of Bomb Plot He was remanded in custody for sentencing on September 8 and was warned by the judge he faced a lengthy prison sentence. Earlier this month, a senior British counter-terrorism officer told a Muslim security group that police feared a rise in attacks by far-right groups. "We treat right wing extremism as seriously as any other form of violent extremism and will continue to investigate such activity with the same determination," John McDowall, head of London's Counter Terrorism Command, said.

POPSIt Feels Good Sometimes I think all that bad crap is the stuff that tends to stick with you the most but that is underestimating the power of a sincere compliment. Not only is it a gift to the other person, it is a gift to yourself. :)
