POPSWill Alabama execute an innocent man? I cannot comprehend why they refuse to do this simple test. Are they so fearful of having made a mistake that they would prefer not to administer the test? If they are sure they are right, why not administer the test just so they can say "I told you so"

POPSThere are more slaves today... ...than at any other time in history. Twice as many slaves as when Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Our Congress just apologized for historical slavery in America, but what about the people in slavery today? I urge you to go to the website www.callandresponse.com and find out ways to respond, ways to act. Here is an opportunity to create hope and change. It isn't called Awarenessism, it's called Activism. Let's act.

POPS12 Myths about Hunger More: Reality: There is no theoretical or practical reason why freedom, taken to mean civil liberties, should be incompatible with ending hunger. Surveying the globe, we see no correlation between hunger and civil liberties. However, one narrow definition of freedom - the right to unlimited accumulation of wealth-producing property and the right to use that property however one sees fit - is in fundamental conflict with ending hunger. By contrast, a definition of freedom more consistent with our nation's dominant founding vision holds that economic security for all is the guarantor of our liberty. Such an understanding of freedom is essential to ending hunger.

POPSThe 11 Keys of Spiritual Activism 4. Apply Synergy and Teamwork to Accomplish Goals. 5. Spiritual Activism is the Pursuit of Service for the Good of All, Not for the Advancement or Benefit of Individuals or Selected Communities. 6. Pursue Integrity, Honesty and Dignity in the Conduct of Your Actions. “Integrity is doing the right thing even if no one is watching.” 7. Do not Defame Your Detractors or Those Who Doubt You. 8. Raising Another Up Raises You Up As Well. 9. Learn to Listen to Your Heart and Not Your Mind. 10. Search Out Viable and Sustainable Solutions. “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” 11. Spiritual Activism is about process. The process by which you arrive at the goal is as important as reaching the goal itself. If we live the change we want to see in the world, we cannot lose. We have already won.

POPSPETA's dirty secrets: 7 things you didn't know about PETA
More: regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents.… PETA…fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information… PETA…billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs "died for their sins."…And its infamous "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals. PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases…president Ingrid Newkirk has said that "even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it."

POPSStranger In Your Home Town One of THE most difficult things I have ever had to do was to come out of the closet. I really don't think society can understand how very hard it is sometimes to be different. You may think it's so much easier to make the "correct" choices if you can and I thought that for a very long time. You have to be a strong person to come out where I live; a very strong person and I often ask myself why God made me this way. I know there is a reason though, and I think the reason may be to somehow make life better for the next generation of gay and bisexual people. I hope so anyway.

POPSBeck tearily praises 9/11 widow's work he viciously attacked in 2005 Beck: You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims' families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind -- let's give them money, let's get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn't -- all the 3,000 victims' families, I don't hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh, shut up.' I'm so sick of them. Because they're always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it's only about ten.

POPSGay for Today A remarkable website, revealing the lives and works of fascinating gay or bisexual men from "recent" history (19th C to present day). Featured by birthday, but also categorized by personal characteristics and/or work. "Some of the people featured are highly significant figures to the gay community for their creativity or activism." "Some are highly significant figures in their fields - art, music, science, literature, politics, whatever - who happened to be gay. Sometimes their homosexuality is irrelevant; often it has a part to play in creating that sense of difference or 'otherness' that marks out the genius, the maverick, the innovator. Sometimes, the friendships created by shared homosexuality have created or been significant in whole movements - dance , poetry, writing, art and music all have examples of this." "If you are gay, know your culture. If you are not, know that your world would not be the same without us." Kudos to Peter Rivendell for creating Gay For Today
