Taken from the Sioux word for "south wind people," their name for anyone who lived south of Sioux territory. KENTUCKY. Possibly derived from the Indian word kan-tuk-kee, meaning "dark and bloody ground." Or kan-tuc-kec, "land of green reeds", or ken-take, meaning "meadowland." LOUISIANA. Named after French King Louis XIV. MAINE. The Old French word for "province." MARYLAND. Named after Queen Henrietta Maria, wife of English King George I.

POPSNative American Legends These are wonderful stories. I read some of these when I was a kid. Just happened to find these by accident while looking for something else. You never know what you'll find on the internet. There are many links to artwork, etc. I'll be there for a while. :)

POPSgPhone is here - it's an OS, not a device This competes more with windows mobile than with the iPhone. Personally, I'm looking forward to increased competition in the mobile space, and will definitely be watching these devices closely.

POPS"I Love You" in Many Languages I like the fact that they include Klingon and Vulcan, not to mention Redneck and Pig Latin! A note to those with Spanish-speaking lovers (I learned this one the hard way)... it seems that when they say "Te quiero" it means "I love you" but if you are looking for the answer to whether or not they are IN love with you, wait for the phrase "Te amo."

POPSBush Family COWS--What A Load of Bull Being Marketed! (and look who's paying for it) "Curriculum On Wheels (COW)" --Holy...er, rather, Unholy COW! How can these people sleep at night?! Neil Bush's "Ignite" firm bought educational software from Adaptive Learning Technology, software designed to provide individualized learning, and then "created a large purple COW that could be wheeled from classroom to classroom and plugged in, offering lessons that could be played to a roomful of students. The COWs enticed students with with catchy jingles and videos featuring cartoon characters like Mr. Bighead and Norman Einstein". The founder of Adaptive Learning states, "It breaks my heart what they have done. The concept was totally perverted."
