Another Bailout Blowout? Why the Auto Deal May Crash
paleblue
by paleblue  12-11-2008
Think about it Paul Wolfowitz said 'we need another Pearl Harbor event'! Since 911 the admin. has taken major steps to make sure our liberties were tightened < through fear tacktics! This is America's last stronghold our last major manufacturing base when this goes we have NOTHING! The financial bailout came with no questions asked <> not for billions but trillions cash!! The big 3 represent something for the PEOPLE -- JOBS -- all the the admin seems to want is just get the Credit industry back up and running to issue more slavery to the people! Now when everything falls apart they will blame it on a Black man with Fear in his name - perfect.. Yes, Clinton signed onto NAFA, but Bush had 8 years to change that, but did nothing!! 911 was the turning point for the bankers and they are running with it -- everything from that point on was to make sure the American people are bought to their knees through fear and stealing of our money yet in that time We've seen nothing in return!

Lizardlike Tuatara Sets a Speed Record for DNA Change
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  12-10-2008
The finding shows that changes in the genetic code don’t always dictate changes in the appearance, function, or behavior of an organism. “Evolution is multidimensional,” Lambert says. “It’s not just about DNA.”

Irony on decline ?
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  12-9-2008
An interesting read. I believe that irony is a fair measure of an healthy and active intelligence. A steady decline in irony may carry consequences as serious as global warming. It might mean we become rigid thinkers imprisoned within our own conceptions and less inclined towards this highly intelligent mix of critical thinking and humor.

The Santa Letters Letters
stone1a
by stone1a  12-8-2008
t's hard to imagine Christmas a year after a tragic accident to one's spouse but that is what Emma Jensen is dealing with but as if that is not enough she also faces monetary problems and an overwhelming since of sadness. Not only is she depressed but her whole family feels it and seems to have lost hope except of six year old, McKenna. The surprising arrival of a package and letter, signed "Santa," that arrives each day offers hope and the family begins to heal and feel love. The feeling of redemption and hope from this book make it a must read anytime but especially in the Christmas season. Hopefully, it will be gift-wrapped under many trees this year.

Britney Spears: The Circus
abeer58
by abeer58  11-27-2008
Say what you like about Britney, she's no shirker. While her fellow Mickey Mouse club alumni Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera knock out an album every three or four years, hats off to Britney for seeming to increase her work rate during a sequence of events - mental meltdown, disastrous awards-show appearances, lost custody battles, liaisons with dubious Brummie paparazzi - that would have imploded most careers.

Obama skips church on Sundays
pkronfield
by pkronfield  11-23-2008    9
Now that the charade of being a Christian has sucked in Christian voters, Obama can become himself. After all, there is a huge mosque directly across the street from his mansion in Chicago, where he can both pray to Mecca and receive instructions from his handlers somewhere on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border areas.

Nation Finally Shitty Enough To Make Social Progress
lifecyce1898
by lifecyce1898  11-6-2008
I know the Onion is satire but this strikes much too close to home to be labeled mere satire. As we enter a new era of equality for all people, the election of Barack Obama will decidedly be a milestone in U.S. history, undeniable proof that Americans, when pushed to the very brink, are willing to look past outward appearances and judge a person by the quality of his character and strength of his record. So as long as that person is not a woman.

Obama Didn't Have The "Political Courage" To Leave Rev. Wright's Church
merrie
by merrie  11-4-2008
For almost two years, I've been trying to encourage people to go to public appearances by politicians, ask them tough questions, and upload their responses to video sharing sites. A month ago, I sent an open letter to a series of mostly Pajamas Media bloggers urging them to push such a plan, and none of them did. Instead, some pushed loony theories, some sat in a dark corner moaning (PW), and others concentrated on their Amazon sales. Now, one other person from that group - almost assuredly doing so on her own initiative and not on the prompting of the other hacks at PJM - has done something similar to my plan that might have an effect on the election. It would have been better if the person asked had been Obama and if the question had been an actual tough question, but a stumbling gaffe response might be enough to spur others to do something similar in the future.

Looking incredulous, Mr. Smith gave up. He read a statement from the McCain campaign praising the plumber’s “penetrating and clear analysis.” Then Mr. Smith said: “I just want to make this 100 percent perfectly clear. Barack Obama has said repeatedly and demonstrated repeatedly that Israel will always be a friend of the United States no matter what happens once he becomes president of the United States. His words.” “The rest of it,” he said, “man, it just gets frightening sometimes.” Yes it does.

True To His Faith
debbyski
by debbyski  10-26-2008    10
"Is it possible, I asked, that becoming a priest was a way of avoiding coming to terms with his sexuality? Farrow had, after all, once prayed to God to "please make me normal, please make me normal." I asked if he'd had any relationships while serving as a priest. Yes, he confessed. He seemed near tears and stopped short of sharing the details. But he said it had ended. I wondered again how anyone could go through such an ordeal and remain committed to a church that considers it a sin for a gay person to act on biological urges. Whom do you even talk to for help? I asked." "That's a valid question," he said, but he believes he was addressing his spiritual rather than sexual identity in becoming a priest. Among the critics in his own parish and beyond, there are those who quote the Bible to condemn homosexuality and gay marriage. "The Bible is not a book, it's a library written over 15 centuries," Farrow told me, suggesting that Christianity has and should continue to evolve

RNC Puts Palin on Fashion Welfare; Palin Goes Wild
blueridge
by blueridge  10-24-2008    5
Republicans give Clothing-Stamps to Palin and family. Palin uses it at Neiman Mark-Ups. What hypocrisy. Talk about Socialism! She cannot afford her own clothes? They are millionaires! Meet the real Jane six-pack. Still think she is "conservative" fiscally? Take a look at the itemized bills. Spends like a "liberal" doesn't she? I wonder how people who donated to the RNC feel about this spending of their contributions? Just another example of Palin's principles, she will accept charity and handouts from others. Really, how did she talk the RNC into this? Or did they want her to get a "makeover" in fashion? I wonder how much they paid for her hair do-over. Question: If Palin was a man running for VP, would he get this treatment? Not a chance. So this policy is sexist too.

Guess Who Else Has Tax Liens?
merrie
by merrie  10-17-2008    1
Because, you know, associations matter when choosing a plumber, but apparently not when choosing a President. If tax liens are such an indicator of character and trustworthiness, wouldn’t it have more significance for the treasurer of a presidential campaign than for a man who just asked a question of the candidate? If the national media has such an interest in investigating a plumber who made a couple of national appearances, why wouldn’t they have at least the same interest in the people running a major party presidential campaign? Of course not. The same people who instruct us that Barack Obama’s 20-year membership in Jeremiah Wright’s church while Wright called 9/11 “chickens coming home to roost” now interrogate Joe the Plumber on national TV about his brief flirtation with the Natural Law Party.
