POPS*Evidence is in on Pearl Harbour style sneak attack on Gaza Livni is obviously now to be kept out of the loop and not informed until the last minute as to the deceptions and lies of the sneak Pearl Harbour style, truce breaking, sneak attack on the police compound during a passing out parade when the families became targets too. Obviously she is not one of the boys and the token female at cabinet cannot play at war. Or was it that Barak still saw her as his threat to the Prime Ministership? Is this not what the attack on Gaza was all about? The happen-chance of the Gaza police parade, the Zionist election and Bush's departure were too good an opportunity to be missed by the USS Liberty killers!

POPSThe Dangers Of Romantic Comedies "According to a few enterprising social scientists at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, romantic comedies can raise unrealistic romantic expectations among fans and may therefore set them up for personal failure and a lifetime of disappointment. In the end, however, Holmes loosened up and tacitly gave me approval to shut off my brain for the rest of the year without further endangering my romantic life. He admitted that he too liked the occasional ridiculous romantic comedy. "As skeptical as I have to be as a scientist," he confessed, "I'll watch these movies and go awww." Heck, if they're good enough for the guy who's warning us about them, they're good enough for me. Let's see what's on pay per view." :)

POPSWashington asks Israel To Clarify First Sale Of Spy Drones To Russia A drone transaction with Moscow would give the Russian army a technological-intelligence edge over Caucasian and Caspian nations, like Georgia and Azerbaijan, and therefore place in doubt their future arms purchases from Israel. Jerusalem consulted with Washington over the deal, as required under the US-Israel 2006 security pact covering Israeli weapons transfers to third countries. The advanced state of Israel-Russian negotiations indicates its approval by the outgoing Bush White House and incoming Obama administration in line with their efforts to improve relations with Moscow.

POPSCrematorium to Help Heat Homes in Swedish Town So far, Mr Andersson said, the plan has met with approval from locals in the town of 55,000. "Of course it's possible that there will be some discussion about the ethics of this, but from our side, this is a purely environmental idea," he said. "There will be no difference in the ashes."

POPSNo Blago-Effect on Obama Polling So Obama's ratings are up after the scandal. I think that in our post-Bush era, Republicans are going to have a little problem -- Americans trust this guy and are more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Attempts to link Obama and Blagojevich are likely to fail. Republicans are going to have to stop relying on their opponent to screw up and are going to have to do something crazy -- be competent.

POPSIs This Your Paper On Single Serving Sites? More: These sites, which writer Jason Kottke termed “single serving sites” in February 20081, capture visitors’ attention for a fraction of a minute, a tacit acknowledgement of the economy of attention in which they operate. In this space they express many traditional messages that have found an emerging new form of expression on the Internet. Dozens of tiny, single serving sites provide a venue for pop culture references, inside jokes, art displays, collective action, bids for peer approval, humor, and advice. Collectively they offer a perspective on the web as a platform for a unique brand of storytelling.

POPSEverything You Want To Know About The Bailout (But Were Afraid To Ask) Q: So how will you thaw the credit markets? Just trying to understand. A: (Impatient) We will buy troubled assets from troubled banks and they will be able to lend again. After Bailout Approval Q: Ok. You have the money. Did you buy the troubled assets? A: Not exactly. Q: Why not? A: Well, we could not figure out what they were worth. Q: Why not? A: There does not seem to be a market for them. Q: Aren't banks required to mark them to market value? A: Yes. Q: Then why not just pay the value shown on the banks' balance sheets? A: (Long pause) Er...it seems that some of them have almost no value and of course, no buyers. Q: Sounds like a good price. Why not pay that? A: (Exasperated) Because that would not help the banks. Q: It would get the bad assets off the banks' books. I thought that was the idea.

POPSEU Launches Anti-Piracy Operation off Coast of Somalia The US-drafted resolution, adopted unanimously by the 15-nation council, extends for one year the right of countries with permission from Somalia’s transitional government to enter Somali waters to pursue and attack pirates. French UN Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert said last week he was confident the EU operation would improve security in the Gulf of Aden, a major sea lane for Middle East oil used by ships heading to and from the Suez canal. An unresolved issue has been jurisdiction over captured pirates and where they can be prosecuted. US envoy Rosemary DiCarlo told reporters last week Washington hoped more countries would use a 1988 convention against unlawful acts committed at sea to put captured pirates on trial.

POPSPress and "Psy Ops" to Merge Information Operations advises on information designed to affect the will of the enemy, while Psy Ops includes so-called "black operations," or outright deception. U.S. General David McKiernan, the commander of 50,000 troops from more than 40 nations in NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), ordered the combination of the Public Affairs Office (PAO), Information Operations and Psy Ops (Psychological Operations) from December 1, said a NATO official with detailed knowledge of the move. The new combined ISAF department will come under the command of an American one-star general reporting directly to McKiernan, an arrangement that is also against NATO policy, the NATO official said. "What we are seeing is a gradual increase of American influence in all areas of the war," the NATO official said. "Seeking to gain total control of the information flow from the campaign is just part of that."

POPSPointed Lack of Hand Shakes Between Bush and other G20 Members Nabbed from spiritualmonkey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Y_ncOVlDw Holy! This is not meaningless. I'm not sure the reporter's interpretive ideas are spot on, but it is definitely significant. Everyone else is smiling and shaking hands. I don't know when this occurred within the timeline of the gathering, but it's clear that there is a distinction being made between kinds of relationships. What do you think?
