POPSMEET JOHN DOE I watched an old movie on TCM Turner Classic Movies the other day called MEET JOHN DOE.. I swear this movie is relevant today... There was an especially poignant scene played by James Gleason (Henry Connell)... where he got drunk and told John Doe played by Gary Cooper, what America means to him... A real tearjerker... Anyway, I hope you can get the time to watch this movie, it is riveting even by today's standards... You can watch it at this link: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/pics/meetjohndoe.html OR right from the google server: http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=6221921349485626107&hl=en thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSOne last Bill for workers, to be VETOED by Bush.
Right to the end, with economy going down the old flusher and many breadwinners out of work, to begin a long tedious quest to keep their families from homelessness and starvation; Bush and cronies at the helm, (but with a countdown) still waging the battle to keep hard working Americans from their civil rights. What the...? I had heard about Ledbetter vs. Goodyear when John McCain didn't even bother to show up for the vote, which helped it to fail in the Senate. One thing for sure, if the McCain (ugh) Palin ticket would have won... This would be a non-issue and what is even more frightening... McCain would have stacked the court with one or two more judges who most certainly would have been against WE THE PEOPLE... http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/04/23/republicans-kill-fair-pay-bill.aspx Will the hits on the average American worker ever end? I can answer that one... (it's a NO-BRAINER...) NO, Not if the Republicans have anything to do with it!

POPSBurrito Eater: San Francisco's Top Resource for Taquerias (and Mustaches) Sadly, they really are SF-only – no East Bay taquerias or taco trucks are included. More: Burritoeater.com aims to be the Web’s most complete source of information on San Francisco taquerias – where they’re located, what they look like, if they’re open late, whether they serve breakfast, what the SF Department of Public Health says about them, which ones double as cell phone retailers, etc. etc. And while we realize that food may be one of the most objectively regarded things in life, we’re not shy about offering our opinion on any given burrito shop in town.

POPS The Riddle Of The Riddler Comedian Eddie Murphy is reportedly playing the role of the Riddler in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film, according to British tabloid the Sun. Johnny Depp was reportedly linked to the role played by Jim Carrey in the 1995 film Batman Forever. Other names attached to the project include Transformers star Shia Lebouf as Robin and Rachel Weisz as Catwoman. Michael Caine and Christian Bale will reportedly reprise the role. The Dark Knight, the Batman film released this summer, has been the most successful film in the franchise, generating more than $500-million in the U.S. alone. It has also gained critical praise particularly for the portrayal of the Joker by late actor Heath Ledger. UPDATE (Thursday, Dec. 18 at 8:20 a.m.) Some people think the rumour is bogus. They are probably right. http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/theampersand/archive/2008/12/18/221144.aspx

POPSThe Private Life of a Cat A male cat courts a female cat and they raise a family together. We see the kittens being born and nurtured by mother, while an interested and proud dad lends his support. Beautifully photographed and executed. With subtitles, no dialog, and a refreshing soundtrack, highly recommended.

POPSThis is Coffee (1961) About 1960 maby earlier, “Coffee brewers institute” offered classes in coffee brewing. I was nite mgr. at Hodys resturant, n.w. corner Hollywood & vine in Hollywood, Ca. Upon completion of instruction, we were awarded a 1/2 gold colored coffee cup and hung it over the entrance to the bar. Tap water should be fit to drink. Never boiled or perked. 210 degrees. No more. Fresh coffee in a can or bag is near unattainable unless you find fresh roasted beans & grind ‘em yourself. To test, take a pinch of coffee and roll it between thumb and forefinger. You should feel the oil. Second test, place a hot cup of coffee across the table and you can see a thin film of oil on the surface.
