What is the future for Arctic sea ice? Some scientists believe that in just five years, the Arctic may be ice-free during the summer. No-one can say either whether it is a trend that will continue to worsen, or a natural cycle that will eventually be reversed.

Antarctica not shrinking...growing... Global Warming Debunked - 5
B Rosen
by B Rosen  2-4-2007    10
This relates a study of the thickness of the ice in antarctica and shows some evidence that the mass of ice is actually growing, and the small amount of melting that has occurred is due to natural current flows, not global warming theory,

the second was the Medieval Warm Period from 900 to 1200 AD, and most recently the warm period of the 1930s and 1940s, which we now know were warmer than the 1990s in North America despite what Al Gore says. As Marie Curie, a worthy winner of two Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics said, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.” Full story in the: Canada Free Press

Sickening Tragedy Unfolding In Canada's Northwest Territory: Trapped Beluga Whales Being Slaughtered
gingembre
by gingembre  11-19-2006    1
I am heartsick over the trapped whales being killed rather than rescued, particularly after learning that they would not have been trapped had Fisheries continued their practice of preventing whales from entering the area. According to the article there was no boat available to break up the ice such that the whales could escape their fate. Could not Fisheries have at least supplied a boat for this purpose? They supplied scientists to take samples from the poor creatures, so why couldn't they have rescued them? Was it more important to let the hunters shoot them? I heard on the radio that the hunters were thrilled to have the opportunity. Whatever their motive for allowing the whales to die, I am furious with Fisheries for their role in this tragedy.
